 The process of moving a pointed instrument over
a smooth surface to leave a mark;
 Such mark is called a line, which is the most
important element of art in drawing.
 It is portraying an object, scene or form of
decorative or symbolic meaning through lines,
shapes, values and textures in a monochromatic
shade.
Purposes for Drawing

 To develop perception (the act of looking at


something carefully and thinking deeply about
what is seen);
 To record ideas and impressions;
 To help plan projects ( rough sketches or studies);
 To outline, delineate, represent a form or shape
 To make finished artworks.
