Task 2: In some countries, only a few young people go to classical music concerts or plays and performances in theater. Why? Should young people be encouraged to attend more classical music plays and performances? Answer It is widely acknowledged that intangible cultural features such as traditional music works possess a huge contribution to any country’s culture. Nonetheless, along with rapid pace of life, the youth tend to ignore these cultural values and sparsely attend classical music performances. First of all, there are some key rationales leading to the problem. It is likely that the era of technology and globalization with cultural integration is responsible for adolescents’ preference for modern musical genres over classical melodies. In other words, highly advanced technological devices like mobile phones in tandem the Internet have gone a long way towards the youth access more a myriad of fashionable and catchy musical genres, which is probably a primary force behind young people’s indifference towards classical music performances. Hence, it is essential to encourage the youth to enjoy more traditional music concerts or plays, so that they may acquire and understand their own country’s deep-rooted cultural values that are unique and priceless. By this way, the young can bring their country’s exclusive cultures in order to introduce their nation’s special moral values to the world. Take, as an illustration, when participating in international pageant competitions, the representative of each nation tend to perform traditional dances of their own country in the Talent Round.
