A. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration

(1) Make sure that the ground service network is energized
Ref. AMM TASK 24-42-00-861-801.
(2) In the cockpit, on the overhead panel 215VU (SIGNS), make sure that the EMER EXIT
LT switch is set to the OFF position.
(3) If you install the pack-assembly (4) at a passenger/crew door (referred to as door) w
here the escape-slide/slide raft has deployed through:
- An accident.
- Or, an operational test:
(a) Make sure that the diaphragm is replaced in the percussion mechanism of the d
oor-damper and emergency-operation cylinder Ref. AMM TASK 52-10-00-860-8

WARNING: BEFORE YOU START WORK ON THE DOOR, MAKE SURE THAT:
- THE EMERGENCY CONTROL HANDLE IS IN THE DISARMED
POSITION WITH THE SAFETY PIN INSTALLED.
- THE PERCUSSION LEVER OF THE DOOR-DAMPER AND EMER
GENCY-OPERATION CYLINDER IS IN THE DISARMED POSIT
ION WITH THE SAFETY PIN INSTALLED.
IF YOU DO NOT OBEY THESE INSTRUCTIONS, THE DOOR CAN OP
EN WITH FORCE OR THE ESCAPE SLIDE CAN DEPLOY SUDDENLY.
THIS CAN CAUSE INJURY AND/OR DAMAGE.
(a) Make sure that the door-damper and emergency-operation cylinder is safetied
Ref. AMM TASK 52-10-00-860-801.
(b) Make sure that the emergency control-handle (2) is set to the DISARMED/MAN
UAL position, with the PIN - SAFETY SLIDE (98A52107632000) (3) installed.

A. Inspection and Preparation of the Right Hand Pack-Assembly for Installation

(1) Make sure that the inflation reservoir of the right hand pack-assembly (4) (referred to
as pack-assembly) is safetied.

(b) Make sure that the lighting-switch pin (35) is installed correctly:
2 If necessary, push the lighting-switch pin (35) into the housing (36) until
you hear a click.
(c) Make sure that the pressure gage (32) (referred to as gage) shows the correct
pressure.
NOTE: There are two different types of gage (32) (MODEL A and MODEL B).
MODEL A has a green cursor which is temperature sensitive. MODEL B
has a needle with an internal mechanism, which is temperature sensiti
ve. They can give temporary low pressure indications when there are
sudden temperature changes (from a cold to a warm environment). T
he cursor/needle moves to changes in temperature faster than the ga
s can expand in the inflation reservoir.
(d) Do a check of the release pins (15) for correct installation, make sure that:
- At the inner side of the release rail (8), the collar is flush with the release
rail (8).
- At the outer side of the release rail (8), the ball end is through the releas
e rail (8).
2 Solution 1:
b Push the release pin (15) into the release rail (8).
3 Solution 2 and 3:
a Align the groove in the release pin (15) with the key in the bush.
b Push the release pin (15) into the release rail (8).
(e) Make sure that the parachute pin (31) is correctly installed in the speed lacing
(29), and safetied with the safety tie (30). The parachute pin (31) must not mo
ve between the loop of the speed lacing (29).
NOTE: This only applies to the pack-assembly that is installed on the forward and af

(a) Open the pocket (23) and pull out the electrical harness (24).
(b) Remove the screw (25), the washer (26) and the clamp (27) from the release r
ail (8).
(c) Put the clamp (27) around the heat-shrink tube (28).
(d) Install the clamp (27), the washer (26) and the screw (25) on the release rail
(8).
(e) The electrical harness (24) must always be attached to the forward release rail
(8) (flight direction).
(f) Fold the electrical harness (24) into the pocket (23). See DETAIL K.

B. Installation of the Right Hand Escape-Slide Raft Pack-Assembly

(a) Remove the PIN - SAFETY SLIDE (98A52107632000) (3) and put it in the supp
ort arm lining.
(c) Carefully lift the door with the door control-handle (1).
(e) Push the release lever (18) to the door, and remove the quick-release bar (12)
from the girt bar (11).
(f) Carefully lower and lock the door with the door control-handle (1).
CAUTION: DO NOT PULL THE GIRT ASSEMBLY. IF YOU DO, YOU WILL OPEN THE P
ACK-ASSEMBLY.
(2) Carefully push the quick-release bar (12) into the girt assembly (6).
(3) Install the pack-assembly (4) on the door:

(b) Make sure that all the electrical connections are clean and in the correct conditi
on.
(d) Apply Non Hardening Jointing Putty-Medium Temp. Area - - (Material Ref. 06LC
G9) to the screws (10).
(e) Carefully lift the pack-assembly (4) and engage the release rails (8) on the hoo
ks (7).
(f) Push the pack-assembly (4) against the door and install the screws (10).
(g) TORQUE the screws (10) to between 1.2 and 1.3 m.daN (106.19 and 115.
04 lbf.in).
(h) Make sure that the release rails (8) are correctly engaged on the hooks (7).
(4) Install the quick-release bar (12) in the girt bar (11):
CAUTION: DO NOT PULL THE GIRT ASSEMBLY. IF YOU DO, YOU WILL
OPEN THE PACK-ASSEMBLY.
1 Put the quick-release bar (12) in the girt bar (11).
2 Pull the release lever (18) away from the door, to lock the quick-release
bar (12) in position.
(d) Attach the girt assembly (6) with the burr-strip to the bottom of the pack-asse
mbly (4).

(e) Carefully lower and lock the door with the door control-handle (1).
(f) Set the emergency control-handle (2) to the DISARMED/MANUAL position, and
install the PIN - SAFETY SLIDE (98A52107632000) (3).

C. Detailed Visual Inspection after Installation

(1) Put an ACCESS PLATFORM 6M (20 FT) - ADJUSTABLE in position to get access to the l
ower side of the right hand door.
(2) Carefully lift the door with the door control-handle (1).
(3) Hold the door in this position, to prevent it to open fully.
(4) Do a check of the position of the electrical harness:
NOTE: This workstep is only applicable for pack-assemblies on the forward and aft d
oors (doors 1 and 4).
(b) Use a FLASHLIGHT and do a check of the position of the electrical harness.
(c) The electrical harness must be attached to the forward release rail.
(d) If necessary, install the electrical harness (24) correctly. Refer to Paragraph 4A.
step (6) (Inspection and Preparation of Component for Installation).

NOTE: If there is not sufficient clearance the pack assembly (4) can rub on the door
frame lining. You can then not move the emergency control-handle (2) to th
e ARMED/AUTOMATIC position.
(6) Carefully lower and lock the door with the door control-handle (1).
(7) Do a check for the correct installation of the release pins (15):
(a) Use a FLASHLIGHT, and look on each side of the pack-assembly (4), between th
e pack-assembly (4) and the door frame lining.
(b) Make sure that the ball end of the release pin (15) is through the release rail
(8).

(c) If a release pin (15) is not correctly installed in the release rail (8):
1 Use your thumb, and carefully push the release pin (15) back into the rel
ease rail (8).
2 Or, if you cannot push the release pin (15) with your thumb:
a Remove the pack-assembly (4) from the door Ref. AMM TASK 25-6
2-41-000-808.
b Install the release pin (15). Refer to the applicable solution in Para
graph 4A. step (5)(d)2_ or (d)3_ (Inspection and Preparation of C
omponent for Installation).
(8) Make sure that the emergency control-handle (2) can move freely:
(b) Move the emergency control-handle (2) from the DISARMED/MANUAL position t
o the ARMED/AUTOMATIC position four times.
c Attach the girt assembly (6) correctly to the hook and loop on the
bottom side of the pack assembly (4).
(c) Set the emergency control-handle (2) in the DISARMED/MANUAL position and i
nstall the PIN - SAFETY SLIDE (98A52107632000) (3).

D. Get access to the avionics compartment. Then remove the safety clip(s) and the tag(s) and
close this(these) circuit breaker(s):

E. Operational Test of the Right Hand Escape-Facilities
(1) Do an operational check of the related passenger/crew door after the installation of th
e escape slide facilities Ref. AMM TASK 52-11-00-710-804, Ref. AMM TASK 52-12-00-
710-801 and Ref. AMM TASK 52-13-00-710-802.
(2) Energize the Cabin Intercommunication Data System (CIDS) Ref. AMM TASK 23-73-0
0-861-801.
(3) Do the operational test of the emergency lights Ref. AMM TASK 33-51-00-710-801.
(4) Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) on the applicable door to tell persons not to open the doo
r, during the test.
(5) Do the operational test of the monitoring, through CIDS.
