Global Economics Assignment Description:

“The Economic Strategy Journal”

At the end of section ONE of Global Economics course (13/1), you will need to elaborate an Economic
Strategy Journal, inspired by readings extracted by “The Economist” (other sources are possible such as the
wall street journal and financial times) which will offer compelling insights on the state of the world’s
economy.

Your journal will need to choose one topic and develop its evolution over the period of 2 weeks, in which you
can report and analytically assess the development of a given issue/context, by coherently representing the
events, in a cogent and critical manner.

The storyline is the most important aspect, where you can historically relate events and analysis, within the
scope of the 2 weeks.

The final result will need to generate a report, maximum 2000 words (12 font, 1.5 spacing, APA in-text
citation and referencing), describing in details the evolution of the topic you have observed.

Instructions:

1. Decide on a topic that has been in the news for the past 2 weeks, it does not have to be political, it
can be business related, social, technological, COVID-related… etc (what’s important is that there are
enough developments/ things happening in the news about this topic for the past 14 days). Then find
articles about it in the economists, the wall street journal, the financial times, and other known news
agencies.
2. After research, start the report, here is the outline:

I. Introduction
II. Background about the topic chosen: this section is important especially if the topic chosen is
something that has occurred/been in the news before 13/1… in this part you get to describe
everything that happened BEFORE 13/1 while also including any relevant economic analysis about
the topic
III. Storyline of events/news/developments: this is one of the most important sections in this report, it is
important for the writer to follow the exact instructions – here, you need to write updates about
what has been going on regarding this topic starting from 13/1 onwards. Some analysis/
observations/ reflections need to be added after writing the news/ updates (not for all of them, just
for the ones that are relevant) …. It should be done this way:
January 13th: the economist reported that this and this happened today (the economist, 2019). This
event reflects/indicates that ….
January 14th: on this day, the following developments also happened (insert APA citation)
January 15th: no major developments/ news related to this topic
January 16th:
January 17th
…. January 25th
IV. Analysis and assessment of the events and their evolution. What is their economical effect? (on the
country where the events are taking place and, if relevant, globally)
V. Conclusion
