Ladakh Literature Festival – 2019

Ladakh administration had organised a three days Ladakh Literature festival from 29 to 31 October 2019. This was
the first-ever Ladakh Literature festival aims to celebrate the uniqueness of the region in the fields of Literature, Art
and Culture after transformation of Ladakh from a division to Union Territory (UT). There were screenings of
Ladakhi films, discussions on Heritage and presentations on History and Archaeology of Ladakh. Children, youth
and women participated in the Festival in several competitions and events like Calligraphy, Culinary art etc. Along
with local artists, literary personalities, historians, musicians and IAS officers who turned authors like Parvez
Dewan, Anil Swarup and Dr MK Ranjith Singh also participated in the festival. The Festival will now be held
annually.

Losar: Welcoming The New Year


Losar is one of the biggest festivals in Ladakh which has its origins in the 7th century, and marks
the arrival of a New Year in Tibetan Buddhism. It is celebrated for 15 days at a stretch, during
which ancestors, gods & animals are fed. Changkol, or Tibetan Beer, is consumed by the people
during this time. Locals organize procession of fire, the Metho during which slogans are chanted
to chase away evil spirits and hungry ghost. A staged fight between the forces of good & evil
along with the Ibex Deer Dances are the highlights of the festival.

Sindhu Darshan: Celebrating the Existence of Indus

The festival of Sindu Darshan, started in 1997, is held to pay respect to River Indus, as it is a
symbol of civilization in the region. It is marked by Buddhist prayers by senior Lamas and several
cultural programs by famous artists.

The festival is also held to pay respect to our soldiers who put their lives in danger everyday to
ensure our safety and security.

 Where is it celebrated? - on the banks of the River Sindu at Shey Manila.

Hemis Tsechu: A Cultural Extravaganza
One of the most popular monastic festivals of Ladakh, Hemis festival  is organized for
the commemoration of the birth of Guru Padmasambhava ( an 8th-century Indian Buddhist
master), the founder of Tantric Buddhism in Tibet. The monks get dressed in vibrant
brocade robes and wear colorful facial masks for performing a sacred dance drama of his
life and its mission.
This 3-day festival is organized particularly in the monkey year festival that arrives in a
cycle of 12 years. At the time of the festival, the 4-storeyed thangka of Guru Padma
Sambhava is slung in the courtyard along with other precious thangkas are out on display.

Ladakh festival is one of the most popular festivals in Ladakh that showcases the cultural
diversity of various regions. Performers come from all parts of Ladakh and celebrate with
utmost joy and opulence. Displaying a wide array of dance programs, traditional music
performances, and colorful robes all around, Ladakh festival makes for one of the must-
attend festivals of Ladakh.

Spanning over a duration of almost two weeks, the festival comes to an end at the polo
ground in Leh. During this time, the religious procession crosses over from one monastery
to the other, as people dance and celebrate the harvest season.

Step- by- step process for SBI net banking registration


Step 1: One needs to visit the Online SBI home page, www.onlinesbi.com and then under
the Personal Banking section, click the New User Registration /Activation link.
Step 2: A pop-up opens and you need to fill the registration form with the following details:
 Your account number as displayed in your passbook
 Your CIF (Customer Information File) number which is available in your Passbook/
account statement
 Enter the branch code as displayed in your passbook. If you do not know the branch
code you may get it online too.
 Click the Get Branch Code link to retrieve the branch code based on the location and
branch name.
 Select your country
 Enter the mobile number registered in your branch
 Select the Internet banking facility you require: Full or Limited Transaction Rights /
View Rights
Step 3: On submission, enter the OTP received in your mobile number.
Step 4: If you have an ATM card, you can complete the registration and activate Internet
banking services for your account.
Select the ATM Card option and click Submit (If you do not have an ATM card, Internet
banking services will be activated by the branch.)
Step 5: The page displays a temporary username. Now, you will be prompted to create a
login password and on submission, the registration is successful.
Step 6: Thereafter, you may again go to the SBI Online homepage and now under the
Personal Banking section, click on Log-in to proceed using the temporary username and
password.
Step 7: Lastly, you will be prompted to set your own username and login password to
access

2. Click on “New User Registration/Activation” link.

3. Enter Account Number, CIF number, branch code, country, registered mobile number,
the facility required and click on the “Submit” button.
4. Enter OTP (One Time Password) received on your registered mobile number.

5. Select ATM card to proceed for activation of the services. If you don’t have an ATM card,
your branch will complete the registration process for you.
6. Note the temporary username and create login password (The password should be eight
characters long, a combination of upper and lower case letters, at least one number and
one special character) and re-enter the password and click submit to complete the
registration process.

7. Login with a temporary username and newly created password.


8. Create a username of your choice that will be your permanent username.
9. Accept terms and conditions and set the login password and profile password and select
hint questions and create answers for hint questions.
10. Enter the date of birth, place of birth and registered mobile number.
11. Click on “Account Summary” link to view all account mapped with your account.
12. If you are registered with “View Only Rights”, contact your branch to activate your
“transaction rights” with a printout of your online registration process.
Step 1: Log in to SBI net banking account using credentials
Step 2: After login, click on eServices and go to ‘Sovereign Gold Bond’
Step 3: Check the debit account that is to be used
Step 4: Select 'terms and conditions' and click on ‘proceed’
Step 5: Fill the registration form. This is a one-time registration that may require some
mandatory inputs
Step 6: Now, click on submit. The purchase form appears which is to be filled by
entering the subscription quantity and nominee details.
Step 7: Again, click on ‘submit’
As per RBI instructions, every application must be accompanied by the 'PAN Number’
issued by the Income Tax Department to the investor(s) as the PAN number of the first/
sole applicant is mandatory.
