Assignment Objective:
1. To consolidate the learning of academic concepts
2. To generate learning insights based on self-study.

Assignment Description
1. This is a group assignment. Group size is two members. Thus there will be four groups. Students
may form their own groups.
2. The assignment is in continuation of the class activity on various topics viz. Role Analysis, Defining
Competencies and Performance Appraisal Form design.
3. There are two situations provided for the exercise. Groups may choose the situation they want to
work on. Each situation may be limited to two groups only. Rhishabh please co-ordinate.
Assignment Task
1. Choose any one of the following two situations
Situation 1
You are working for this company. Work unit is basically a project (e.g. consultancy, IT, project
organisations, architects, interior designing) You may want to select a specific type of organization. The
Role is of project manager.
a. You are supervising a team that has flexible work arrangements and can primarily work from
home.
b. The role has revenue responsibilities.
c. You are accountable for performance delivered by the team

Situation 2
You are working for a financial services company. You are a business analyst. Your primary
responsibilities are to analyse businesses for determining their credit worthiness and to carry out industry
analysis to support or help the managers develop insights for financial forecasting.
a. The role is basically independent; however you are a member of a team and you may be
required to share information and skills with other team members, most of whom have a role
similar to yours.
b. Work is time bound required strong domain expertise and business awareness.
2. For the situation selected, carry out the following tasks

Task 1 – Role Analysis


Analyse the role and specify its areas of contribution to the organization (Key Performance Areas).
Thereafter specify at least five performance metrics for the role and suggest indicative measures for each.

Task 2 – Competency Description


Describe at least three competencies the role occupant needs to have.
For each of the three competencies identified, specify at least five proficiency levels.

Task 3 – Performance Appraisal Form Design


Suggest a performance appraisal form design.
State clearly the method you choose to follow.
You may make your assumptions about the frequency of the appraisal.

3. Be brief, precise and concrete in your writing.

Assignment Submission

1. The written report needs to be submitted by Friday, August 20, 2021.


2. You may use a power point presentation in case you consider it necessary for certain
elements; however a written report in word format is mandatory.
3. The submission will be on LMS.
