a) What is Occupational Health & Safety Management System?


ISO 45001:2018 specifies requirements for an occupational health and afety (OH&S) management
system, and gives guidance for its use, to enable organizations to provide safe and healthy
workplaces by preventing work-related injury and ill health, as well as by proactively improving its
OH&S performance.

b) What are the benefits for implementing ISO 45001?

leads to improved organisational health and safety.

d) What kinds of organizations implement OH&S Management Systems?


ISO 45001:2018 is applicable to any organization that wishes to establish, implement and maintain an
OH&S management system to improve occupational health and safety, eliminate hazards and minimize
OH&S risks (including system deficiencies), take advantage of OH&S opportunities, and address OH&S
management system

e) What does PDCA cycle stands for?

 Plan-Do-Check-Act 

f) What is the difference between Hazards and Risks?


A hazard is something that can cause harm, e.g. electricity, chemicals, working up a ladder, noise,
a keyboard, a bully at work, stress, etc. A risk is the chance, high or low, that any hazard will
actually cause somebody harm. For example, working alone away from your office can be a
hazard.

g) What is the difference between Hazard Identification, Risk Assessment and Risk Control?
Risk assessment is a term used to describe the overall process or method where you: Identify
hazards and risk factors that have the potential to cause harm (hazard identification). ... Determine
appropriate ways to eliminate the hazard, or control the risk when the hazard cannot be eliminated
(risk control)

h) Give four examples of any national, regional or international legal requirements & other
requirements of any type of industry applicable for OH&S?
EU Directives or Regulations
Parent company protocols or policies
Employment agreements
Licences, permits and other forms of authorisation

i) Difference between correction and corrective action?


A correction is taken to rectify a known nonconformance. A corrective action is taken to prevent
recurrence of said nonconformance.

j) What do you mean by “INCIDENT” in terms of Occupational Health & safety?


An incident, in the context of occupational health and safety, is an unintended event that disturbs
normal operations. OSHA defines an incident as "an unplanned, undesired event that adversely
affects completion of a task." Incidents range in severity from near misses to fatal accidents.

k) What is an acceptable Risk?


In the risk assessment there is some agreement regarding the basic acceptable risk level - lower
than the natural death level. Defined as: "the risk of one death with a probability of less than 1 per
million of persons per year"  it is defined as that risk which is tolerated in a given context based on
current values of society.
l) ISO 45001 requires that internal audits are objective and impartial. Describe the
difference between objectivity and impartiality in this context?
Impartiality are sources of potential bias that may compromise, or may reasonably be expected to
compromise. Impartiality is about being neutral and fairly giving all sides an equal value without
bias. Objectivity is all about sticking to the observable facts without bias.
m) List five hazards in beverages bottling industry?
hot surfaces and substances
cutting equipment
lifting and pushing

manual handling

n) Identify two essential criteria for evaluation of risks?
