1 Introduction
CAUTION: Read this manual completely and carefully before using the
fan.
The original manual is written in English. All other languages are
translations of the original manual.
This fan is made for moving or recirculating air or air mixtures. Using this fan in
explosive environments for moving or circulating gas, substances, sprays, fumes or a
mixture thereof is not permitted. Moving or recirculation of fluids, solids or particulate
matter is also not permitted.
2 Scope of delivery
After removing the packaging, check for completeness and integrity of the product.
Contact the supplier immediately in case of missing or damaged components.
See chapter 11.3 for the standard scope of delivery. See chapter 11.4 for the optional
scope of delivery
*) Thermal protection (NC) (for single phase: 250V 2.5A cos φ =1 / for 3-phase: 250V 10A
cos φ =1)
**) E = controllable electronically (electronic voltage regulation by a TRIAC / SRC), T =
controllable by transformer (electronic voltage regulation by a transformer), F = frequency
control (controllable by a frequency controller). A frequency controller in combination with a
single phase motor is possible
4 Technical specifications
Check the product label for technical specifications. Check voltage and frequency before
use.
Sound pressure < 70 dB(A) (measured towards the human ear in dB(A)) measured
according to “free field method” at a distance of 7 meters.
6 Storage / transport
• Transport and store the fan in its original packaging only.
• Storage temperature: -40 0C to +60 0C / -40 0F to +140 0F .
• Avoid impacts and unnecessary loads to packaging and / or fan.
• In case the packaging is damaged, check for damages on the fan.
7 Start-up
Before connecting the fan to mains power supply be sure that the specifications on the
type plate match the local voltage and frequency. Make sure that the fan controller is
suitable for the fan or that the fan is suitable for the controller.
When the fan is powered up to full speed, it may occur that, during a short period of
time and under certain conditions, such as a humid or dusty environment, the belt
produces a squeaking sound. Check the belt tension if the noise continues.
CAUTION: If the fan is provided with a cable and the production label
states AAxx, wiring diagram I of chapter 12.11 applies.
CAUTION: If the fan is provided with a cable and the production label
states ABxx, wiring diagram II of Chapter 12.11 applies.
To change the direction of rotation for single phase fans the brown and red wires have to
be exchanged.
3-phase fans rotate with a left-rotating field and standard connection in the correct
direction.
8.2 Servicing:
• Cleaning the fan regularly extends the lifetime of the fan.
• Routine maintenance and cleaning should be carried out at least every 6 months.
• Let the fan run at full speed for at least 2 hours a month, to evaporate humidity that may
have penetrated and to prevent corrosion of the bearings.
8.3 Cleaning:
• Before cleaning, close the condense opening in the motor using the red drainage plug.
• Check fan and air lines regularly for contamination.
• Use a damp cloth or a dry brush to clean the fan.
• Do not use aggressive detergents.
• Prevent water penetrating the motor or electric installation.
• After cleaning remove the red drainage plug at the lowest point of the fan.
• Let the fan run at full speed for at least 2 hours, to evaporate humidity that may have
penetrated and to prevent corrosion of the bearings.
8.4 Bearings:
• The bearings are maintenance-free. The life span of the bearings is, with normal use,
approx. 30,000 hours. After this period the bearings must be replaced.
• Regularly check the condition of the bearings by rotating the impeller manually. It must
rotate smoothly and without noise.
8.5 V-belt:
• Check V-belt on a regular basis according to below figure.
• Should the V-belt not be tight enough, adjust the belt tensioner to the desired
tension according to Chapter 12.10 is realized.
• Should adjustment not be possible anymore, replace the V-belt by a new V-belt.
• Only use original parts.
9 Troubleshooting
CAUTION: In case the fan does not rotate this may be
caused by the thermal protector. The fan turns on again
automatically. Contact your installer in case of
malfunctions.
Fault: Solution:
Bearings noisy and/or rotate difficult. Replace bearings (1)
Fan does not start or rotates too slow. No power supply:
• Turn on the power supply
• Switch on controller
• Check fuse and, if necessary, replace (1)
With power supply:
• Check capacitor and replace if necessary (1)
• Check motor and replace if necessary (1)
Motor protection switch rotates the fan off. • Clean
• Replace bearings (1)
• Check motor and replace if necessary (1)
• Repair or replace controller (1)
Impeller rotates slowly at full power supply. • Check if all phases are connected
• Check if the correct voltage is supplied
(1) Use original spare parts only.
10 Discard
Throw electrical appliances in the garbage.
At the end of the life cycle of the device it must be discarded in an environmentally friendly
way.
Observe local laws and regulations on the disposal of liquids, chemical waste, metal,
electronic and electrical appliances and waste.
