BHD, Malaysia.Mining The mines are situated on the south east coast of peninsular India along the Gulf of Mannar. IOGS mines are rich in high grade natural Alamandine Garnet with particle size ranging from 8 to 120 mesh. With over 1000 acres of captive mining areas along the beach that are renewable in nature, and estimated reserve of up to 2 million metric tonnes of high grade garnet, IOGS is one of the prime source of Garnet from South India. Processing The mined sand is concentrated using spiral gravity concentrators and cross flow Separator. Concentrated garnet is washed using fresh water from RO Plant to remove the chloride and conductivity. AFluid Bed Drier and a Rotary drier prepares the concentrated ore for dry separation. The company has two Dry processing Plants situated in Tuticorin to produce sand-blasting grades of Garnet and high precision Garnet meant for water jet cutting. Magnetic separation using Rare Earth Magnetic Separators for removal of magnetic and nonmagnetic impurities and graded using modern vibrating screens (Rotex Screens, Vibro-Screens etc.) to various grades of Garnet.
