Leaf Beetles

The insects of the beetle family Chrysomelidae are

commonly known as leaf beetles, and include over
37,000 species in more than 2,500 genera, making up one of the largest and most commonly
encountered of all beetle families.

Weaver Ant or green ants are eusocial insects of the

family Formicidae. Weaver ants live in trees and are
known for their unique nest building behaviour where
workers construct nests by weaving together leaves
using larval silk.

Leptomyrmex or spider ants, is a genus of ants and a

distinctive member of the ant subfamily
Dolichoderinae. Commonly known as "spider ants" for
their long legs and spider-like movements, these
orange and black ants are prominent residents of
intact wet forest and sclerophyll habitats throughout
their range

Phyllium is the largest and most widespread genus of

leaf insects in the family Phylliidae. They can be found
in the Indian subcontinent through to Southeast Asia
and Australasia.

Sungaya inexpectata is a species of stick insect. Its

common name is the sunny stick insect, derived from
the less commonly used sungay stick insect. It is a
species in the order of the stick insects Phasmatodea
and the only member of the genus Sungaya.

Risiocnemis seidenschwarzi is a species of damselfly in

the family Platycnemididae and the only known
species in the genus Risiocnemis. It is endemic to the
Philippines.
Tiger beetles are a large group of beetles, from the
Cicindelinae subfamily, known for their aggressive
predatory habits and running speed. The fastest
known species of tiger beetle, Cicindela hudsoni, can
run at a speed of 9 km/h, or about 125 body lengths
per second.

Peruphasma schultei is a species of stick insect

found in the Cordillera del Condor region of
northern Peru. In the wild the insect feeds on
Schinus plants, but will feed on privet, Aucuba
japonica and honeysuckle in captivity.

The flea beetle is a small, jumping beetle of the

leaf beetle family, that makes up the tribe Alticini
which is part of the subfamily Galerucinae.
Historically the flea beetles were classified as their
own subfamily.

Dermestidae are a family of Coleoptera that are

commonly referred to as skin beetles. Other
common names include larder beetle, hide or
leather beetles, carpet beetles, and khapra beetles.
There are approximately 500 to 700 species
worldwide. They can range in size from 1 to 12 mm.

Stellaria media, chickweed, is an annual and perennial flowering plant in the family
Caryophyllaceae. It is native to Eurasia and naturalized throughout the world. This species is
used as a cooling herbal remedy, and grown as a vegetable crop and ground cover for both
human and poultry consumption
Trifolium repens, the white clover, is a herbaceous perennial plant in the bean family Fabaceae.
It is native to Europe, including the British Isles, and central Asia and is one of the most widely
cultivated types of clover.
Crabgrass, Digitaria is a genus of plants in the grass family native to tropical and warm
temperate regions but can occur in tropical, subtropical, and cooler temperate regions as well.
Common names include crabgrass, finger-grass, and fonio
Wild Carrot, Daucus carota, whose common names include wild carrot, bird's nest, bishop's
lace, and Queen Anne's lace, is a white, flowering plant in the family Apiaceae, native to
temperate regions of Europe and southwest Asia, and naturalized to North America and
Australia.
Nut grass, Cyperus rotundus is a species of sedge native to Africa, southern and central
Europe, and southern Asia. The word cyperus derives from the Greek κύπερος, kyperos,
and rotundus is from Latin, meaning "round".
Crsium vulgare, the spear thistle, bull thistle, or common thistle, is a species of the Asteraceae
genus Cirsium, native throughout most of Europe, Western Asia, and northwestern Africa. It is
also naturalised in North America, Africa, and Australia and is an invasive weed in some areas
Bindweed is a climbing vine. Normally, the first signs that you have bindweed will be thin
thread-like vines that wrap themselves tightly around plants or other upward objects.
Eventually, the bindweed vines will grow leaves, which are shaped much like an arrowhead.
Rumex obtusifolius, commonly known as bitter dock, broad-leaved dock, bluntleaf dock, dock
leaf or butter dock, is a perennial plant in the family Polygonaceae. It is native to Europe, but is
found on all temperate continents.
Alliaria petiolata, or garlic mustard, is a biennial flowering plant in the mustard family. It is
native to Europe, western and central Asia, north-western Africa, Morocco, Iberia and the
British Isles, north to northern Scandinavia, and east to northern Pakistan and Xinjiang in
western China.
Dandelion is a plant with yellow flowers. Taraxacum officinale is the most common variety of
this plant, and it grows in many parts of the world. Botanists consider dandelions to be herbs.
People use the leaves, stem, flower, and root of the dandelion for medicinal purposes.
Leaves of wild garlic are hollow and branch off the main stem. Leaves of wild onion are flat, not
hollow, and emerge from the base of the plant. Leaves of both plants are thin, green and waxy,
and can be confused with grasses when young.
Wild violets (Viola odorata) have heart-shaped leaves with purple-blue flowers. Some varieties
also have white or yellow blooms. Although in some areas they are considered annuals or
biennials, wild violets often self-seed, coming back each year in unexpected locations.
