Note:
Discussion
Shear Value: For lateral loads. Current ETABS can produce shear value, therefore “Taken from Analysis
Output”. Otherwise smaller shear value will be adopted as we consider a long span (clear span+ beam
depth for lintel beams)
Fire Limit State: for high strength concrete (f cu>60) (SADS 18 or above)
SADS18/19
Discussion:
SADS 18:
Double check if you enter live load in correct category. (CoP 2013 Cl. 2.3.2.7)
Discussion
Minimum spacing of main bars: set as 4.0Dm to allow closer spacing of larger bars (original 8 Dm no ref in
HK code)
Transfer partition load: Untick if you adopt equivalent partition based on moment and re-enter partition
load in beam for more accurate estimate. Tick if you adopt uniform partition load.
Discussion: Tally with CoP 2013 Cl. 9.3.1.1 and ArchSD SEB Drafting Manuel Table 7.2. Check for HA
standard. Setting this will avoid SADS show T0 in D.B. Handy if using SDIP.
Discussion
Transfer Mechanism: Discuss with team leader. ArchSD may insist critical loading (as per code). BD rarely
ask in old times.
Moment Factors: You can adopt 1 for columns (column edge) but you must ensure design moment should
not less than 0.65 x beam moment at column centre, so keep 0.666 for the time being.
Horizontal clear space: Suggestion, check with job restraint or ArchSD/HA standard
(Stirrup) Min. Reinforcement ratio: Check code, no specific value, may result in large stirrup tonnage.
Note: Ductility beam ratio in Joint page, do not change ratio here, will affect all beams.

Discussions:
Minimum Bar: Fill in the table to ensure SADS pre-design bars tally with ArchSD requirement. Check for BD,
HA standard. Save time in bar edit. RECOMMENDED
Bending Direction of Bars: Bent toward beam to comply with concrete code for easier time in bar edit, esp
you use BDIP. MUST!

Discussions:
All steel ratio limit for ductility apply here, don’t apply on Beam(1) or Column.
Double check the force considered in checking (different interface in lower version)
Span-depth ratio 7 may be obsolete in latest PNAP APP-68. You may add more reinforcement to overcome.
