Cấu trúc câu điều kiện loại 1:

Câu điều kiện loại 1 được dùng nhằm diễn tả các tình huống có thật, có thể xảy ra ở hiện tại
hoặc tương lai.

If + S + V (am/is/are, -s/-es), S + will/can/must/might…+ V-bare

Hay If + thì hiện tại đơn, thì tương lai đơn
Lưu ý:
 Trong mệnh đề chính của câu điều kiện loại 1, bên cạnh việc sử dụng trợ động từ
WILL, ta vẫn có thể có các trợ động từ khác như can, must, might, should, ought
to, may, have to,…
 UNLESS = IF NOT (nếu…không). Mệnh đề chính đổi thành dạng phủ định, còn
mệnh đề chứa Unless giữ nguyên giống mệnh đề If (dạng khẳng định).

Câu điều kiện loại 2 miêu tả sự việc không có thật hoặc trái với sự thật ở hiện tại.

If + S + were/V-ed/V2, S + would + V-bare

Lưu ý:
 Ở mệnh đề If của câu điều kiện loại 2, nếu động từ ở dạng to be, ta dùng WERE cho tất
cả các ngôi.
 Trong mệnh đề chính của câu điều kiện loại 1, ngoài trợ động từ would, ta còn có thể
dùng could, might,…
