Experience: Featured Activity (title and overview of activity/program plan, materials needed, set-up time): Solid or Liquid: 2 parts cornstarch, 1 part water.
Youth will learn about non-Newtonian fluids by creating Oobleck. Oobleck is a form of non-Newtonian fluid, or a liquid that does not follow Newton’s law of
viscosity. Newton’s law of viscosity states that a liquid has constant viscosity, independent of stress. For example, ketchup becomes runnier when shaken, and that
makes it a non-Newtonian liquid. Other examples are honey, paint, melted butter, and shampoo.
