Project for Construction of Mumbai-Ahmedabad High Speed Rail Bidding Documents - Part 2

Package No. MAHSR-P-1(B) Section VI-2. Works Requirements-Specification (Technical Specifications)

Where steel casing shown on the Drawings to be permanently left in place, the
measurement of height of casing that remains in the finished structure complete
in place, shall be by length in meter, limited to that shown in Drawings or ordered
by the Engineer.
Concrete and reinforcement steel and all material required for building up of piles
shall be measured under the respective items as applicable.
The item of initial vertical pile load tests shall be measured in numbers of piles
for which such testing is done. However, any tests abandoned and/or are not
successfully completed shall not be measured.
The item of routine vertical pile load tests shall be measured in numbers of piles
for which such testing is done. However, any tests abandoned and/or are not
successfully completed shall not be measured.
The item of Non-Destructive tests for pile integrity shall be measured in numbers
of piles for which such testing is done. However, any tests abandoned and/or are
not successfully completed shall not be measured.

General
This specification covers the construction of Shinso pile. Shinso pile is a type of cast-
in-situ concrete solid pile, mostly single, with a large diameter, involving excavation
instead of boring. It is constructed by excavating soil while supporting the bore-wall
by corrugated liner plate of steel in circular formwork. The annular space between the
liner plate and soil, is backfilled by grout. The Contractor shall design reinforcing rings
of liner plate to resist all external loading including earth pressures, ground water
pressure, effect of traffic loads, etc.
Materials
Concrete and Reinforcement Steel shall conform to Sub-Clause 3.1.2 hereinabove.
Liner plate
Liner plate shall conform to JIS G 3101 (SS330) or its equivalent.
Reinforcing ring material shall conform to JIS G 3101 (SS400) or its
equivalent.
The sectional properties of the liner plate shall be generally as per the
indicative Drawings.
Grouting Material for filling space between excavated surface and Liner
Material for grout (cement, water, fine aggregate and admixture) shall
conform to Clause 5 of these Specifications.
Prior to the start of construction, the Contractor shall describe in Method
Statement, the proportions of materials, including admixtures to be used in
design mix, and submit to the Engineer for approval. Grouting material shall
be so selected that the grouted area has higher strength than surrounding
ground, duly ensuring with a compressive strength test of a sample for the
