My effective strategy that I will follow regarding emotional intelligence in

leadership is that of self-awareness, this strategy is instrumental to help always
to sense and feel my emotions and actions, as well as affecting other people around
me, in ways, which can enhance my leadership position to enable me to have a clear
picture of my strengths and weaknesses (journal of business studies quarterly.
n.d). My plan to follow the effective strategy of self-awareness, is maintaining
journals by using some designated timetable each day to outlay my written down
thoughts, in order to improve them, follow them up effectively in be able to excel
to higher levels so that I daily progress to another stage of self-awareness
(journal of business studies quarterly. n.d).

Below are 5 communication skills which I and others can tell that I am
communicating as a leader.

1. Core Values � My communication as a leader should be portraying my real identity

with no masks, that my communication underlines my authenticity through attitudes,
body language, word choices, tone, habits, and everyday activities (forbes. n.d).

2. Clear Messaging - My communication as a leader, should be based on facts out of

authentic gathered information and effort from numerous credible sources, after
analyzing and synthesizing evidence into a pure, comprehensible memo that everybody
can comprehend (forbes. n.d).

3. Competent Work - My communication as a leader should contain words and actions

with influence to bring substantive outcomes (forbes. n.d). As a leader, I need to
prepare myself well, so that when I conduct a presentation, submit a report, or
write an email, it will be one which is persuasive, using my communication style to
persuade others to change their mind, to buy into my suppositions, recommendations,
products or services (forbes. n.d).

4. Credibility With Peers - My communication as a leader should be based on a track

record of trust due to communicating in positive manner, direct and accurate, with
previous communications which were based on appropriate data, truthful facts, and
solid reasoning (forbes. n.d).

5. Commanding Presence - My communication as a leader should be that even my

entering into a meeting room, coupled with my body language should communicate a
plan to involve, reinforced by my speeches which are required to command attention
so that my existence project out vigor, passion, considerate, and forming an
atmosphere of authority (forbes. n.d).
