2. CALCULATION OF BASE SHEAR
Self weight of the structure (columns, beams) is automated by the software for the corresponding member sizes.

Analysis
(i). The building is a RCC framed structure with columns and beams of appropriate
section properties.
(ii). As the effect of wind load was found to be less than that of earthquake base shear,
wind load was not considered in the analysis.
(iii). A combination with load cases of self weight, live load and seismic load is used for
the design of members.
5.DESIGN OF PILE FOUNDATION
The analysis was carrried out for all pile groups. The typical design calculations are
furnished below from the analysis:
TYPICAL PILE CAP DESIGN CALCULATION:
The size of the pile cap for 4 pile group 2250 x 2250 mm
The size of the pile cap for 2 pile group 2250 x 1000 mm
Diameter of pile 500 mm
Depth of pile below existing ground level 10 m
The thickness of pile cap (9-pile group) 1000 mm
Concrete Grade M 25
Bottom 100 mm
The pile is bored cast in-situ pile.
P.C.C of 100mm thick was provided under the pile cap as shown in the drawing.
