Work Experience Overview: Senior executive, CFO and principal, with defense electronics manufacturer; 22 years of
service with current employer, responsible for all financial matters of the corporation, pension trustee, all insurance
matters, property management, and Human Resources. As a principal owner, I have been instrumental in growing the
business from $7M to $97M during my tenure. In total I have 32 years employment experience in Lancaster County, so I
understand the local business, economic, and taxpayer climate. As a business owner, I bring the big picture perspective
and financial expertise to the table.

Community Involvement: I currently serve as President of the Hempfield Foundation, formerly the Hempfield
Educational Foundation. I have been an officer for 6 years, formerly Treasurer. The Hempfield Foundation is a qualified
non-profit, 501(c)3 organization which funds the Hempfield School District with educational grants for teachers, multiple
scholarships, Educational Improvement Tax Credit (EITC $) from qualified business contributions, and school grants in
2011. The overriding mission is to continue to fund new & innovative educational opportunities in the Hempfield
School District. We provide funding for “Educational Excellence”. The Foundation has contributed $500,000 in various
funding to the Hempfield School District in the last 4 years.

Additionally, I am the past President and former Treasurer of the Hempfield Youth Association (HYA). HYA provides
athletic opportunities for Hempfield children from Kindergarten through 12th grade in various sports. HYA sponsors all
youth basketball – boys & girls (grades 3-12), Baseball-boys (K-college), Softball-girls (K-college), Volleyball – boys & girls
(7-12), and Tennis (7-12). The primary mission is to foster playing opportunity for as many children as feasible, learn and
understand the life lessons of sportsmanship, teamwork, and ethical behavior. I have coached baseball, softball, and
basketball coach.

My overriding motivation is to assist where my skills are most beneficial to the community. Given these challenging
times, my expertise and experience with finances, pensions, property management, and human resources, as well as my
knowledge of the district, equip me to “hit the ground running” and provide strategic direction and decision-making for
the district and community.

Educational Background:
1979 graduate of Franklin and Marshall College, Lancaster, PA; BA Business Administration-Accounting.
1976 graduate of Boyertown Area High School, Boyertown, PA.
Professional and management training over a 32 year employment period.

Other Important Information:

Spouse, is Elizabeth Maurer (Liz), F&M class of ‘79, originally from Linden, NJ. Liz worked in the health insurance
business for 28 years; 5 as president of her own agency. Liz has retired from insurance and has volunteered an average
2-3 days per week at Landisville Middle School assisting with lunch recess duty and in the art room, during the last 6 -7
years. Liz has been a Superintendent Parent Advisory Council member for 6 years. Liz & I have been Hempfield
residents for 27 years.

Son, Christopher is an HHS alumnus, class of ‘09. Chris is currently a sophomore attending Penn State – University Park,
majoring in Landscape Architecture. Chris received the Excellence in LARCH award his freshman year at PSU; he is a
dean’s list student. You may have met Chris working at the Black Knight in Landisville during the past 4 years. Chris
played HYA baseball for 9 years.

Daughter, Allison is an HHS senior, class of ‘11. Alli is a member of National Honor Society, member of International
Foreign Language Honors Society, 4 year member of Student Council, officer of Varsity Club, 4 year field hockey player,
2nd team All-State - Midfield, PA All- state academic team, National Field Hockey Coaches Academic All-American , 3 year
lacrosse player, and 2 year basketball player. Alli is also a lifeguard at the Landisville Community Pool.
