The report is entitled “A Comparison of Passengers’ Attitude towards Uber versus Pathao:
Evidence from Dhaka City” .This report is to know about what passengers actually thinks
about UBER and PATHAO .Which one is more preferable for them and if they are satisfied
with UBER and PATHAO’s services or not. The passengers would like to travel with UBER
and PATHAO or not all of these questions answer can be found through this study. This will
also solve some of the problems which is faced by passengers both of UBER and PATHAO.
In this study I used SPSS software to analyse the primary data that I had collected from the
respondents by using Google forms. I also used some secondary data from the website of
UBER and PATHAO. After collecting the data I moved them to SPSS software for
Univariate and Bivariate data analysis by doing frequency distribution, Cross tabulation and
Chi square test. After the analysis I interpreted the results. From the findings of the report we
can say that passengers think UBER is more costly but it also provides a premium service.
On the other hand PATHAO is cheap but not that much comfortable

Chapter-1
Background of the study
1.1 Background of the study: we are trying to determine the factors effecting
customers attitude to ours selecting the services in between Uber and Pathao.
Uber: In 2009, Uber launched into the century-old taxi industry and transformed the way
consumers viewed private transportation . By launching the mobile app in 2010, Uber was the
catalyst for using technology to change the taxi industry. Over the last six years, Uber’s
substantial growth has led it to reach a total value of $41 billion.

Pathao: Pathao (Bengali: পাঠাও); is a Bangladeshi on-demand digital platform and vehicle for
hire company headquartered in Dhaka, Bangladesh. The company operates in three cities of
Bangladesh: Dhaka, Chittagong, Sylhet, and in Kathmandu, Nepal. Pathao has ride-sharing
services, food delivery, courier and E-commerce services.Pathao is the first major ride-sharing
company in Bangladesh to get enlistment certificate from the authorities.
Pathao started its journey as a delivery service back in 2015 with its fleet of motorcycles and
bicycles. They acted as a delivery service for several E-Commerce Companies of Bangladesh.
Later in 2016, Pathao started bike-sharing services in mid-2016 and had successfully signed up
more than 100,000 drivers and around 1 million users in March 2018 across the country. In an
interview with TechCrunch, Pathao CEO Hussain M Elius confirmed that Pathao currently has
over 50,000 bikes registered in its platform and the company is valued over $100 million as of
April 2018.In September 2018, Pathao launched its services in Nepal. Pathao is the first
Bangladeshi company to offer On-demand Transport Sharing services abroad. On 3 December
2019, Pathao became the first major ride-sharing service providing company in Bangladesh to
get enlistment certificate from the authorities in Bangladesh.
1.2 objective of the study:

Determine the factors effecting customers attitude to ours selecting the services in between
Uber and Pathao.

To provide some recommendation to Uber and pathao the become their service customer
friendly.

Create the world's biggest taxi network, connecting riders with safe, reliable, convenient
transportation providers at a variety of price-points in cities around the world.
(Complete) Create the world's biggest P2P logistics platform, allowing anyone to either
request or provide physical delivery of a myriad of goods & services (In-progress)
Shift from 100% human-driven logistics to 100% machine-driven logistics. Profit
immensely. (This phase will be the most difficult)World domination.

1.3 Primary Objective: This report is required for the completion of the BBA Program of BRAC University.
Therefore, this is the primary objective to complete the degree. SecondaryObjective: The secondary
objectives are mentioned below:  To apply theoretical knowledge in the working field.  To observe the
working environment of an organization with the corporate manner.  To gain knowledge of marketing
practices.  To get the idea of how new services are provided to the customers in an effective manner. 
To know the overall market condition for service industry.

1.4 Sources of Data

For this study I used both primary and secondary data.
1.4.1 Primary Data
Primary data was collected from my random respondents through Google forms.
1.4.2 Secondary Data
Secondary data was collected from the website of both UBER and PATHAO.
1.4.3 Analysis that have been used

Here for this study after collecting raw data from the respondents I had to move them
individually to
the SPSS software. Then there I did the frequency distribution, Cross tabulation and Chi square
test. I
also had to interpret the findings from the analysis.
1.5 Importance of the study

Finding out the attitude of passengers towards both UBER and PATHAO.
Which one passenger prefers the most.
UBER and PATHAO was able to earn the satisfaction of customer or not
To know if the passengers will use both UBER and PATHAO for their future transportation or
not.
To find out the problems faced by the passengers.
To come up with solutions for those problem.

1.6 limitations of the study

While conducting this study my limitation was gathering the respondents and computer
devices.
Chapter-2

Organization( Uber and pathao)

2.1 UBER: Where life Style Meets Logistic‖ Slogan which would be uttered no sooner by every
travellers who does not own a vehicle. Uber Technologies is an online transportation network
company which is headquartered in San Francisco, California, United States. It operates through
The Android, iOS and Windows Phone - Smartphone application app where it connects riders
with drivers using their phone’s GPS capabilities. Uber Mobile app which allows consumers to
request and submit a trip request, where the requests are programmed through a software
application which gets directed to a registered Uber driver who is nearest to the customer,
alerting the location of the customer to the driver. The Transportation service is available in 66
countries over 507 cities worldwide where if offers different levels of services. The service’s
lowest-cost option is UberX which runs in everyday cars like the Toyota Prius. Company’s
original service is the Uber Black where, costing a bit higher but running in high-end towns with
professional drivers. Uber SUV is precisely what it sounds like, charging a premium for a larger
vehicle. Uber LUX is the top-of-the-line option, operating in posh rides like Porsche Panameras
and BMW 7 series sedans Uber was founded by Garrett Camp, the founder of Stumble Upon –
(application and most powerful way to discover content), and Travis Kalanick in 2009 and
presently been led by Travis who is the CEO of the organization. The History for this well spread
online transportation was when Travis and Garrett were attending to a tech conference on Paris
in year 2008 and were finding very difficult to find cab service in the city, hence they came up
with the idea of a Luxury car service. In the beginning Travis was not convinced with the idea
but Garrett pursued and believed that he was the right guy to lead the business hence he was
appointed as the CEO. Uber is Travis third entrepreneurial venture. His first was called as
―Scour‖, a peer to peer file sharing service which was started in 2008. And then secondly he
stared ―Red Swoosh‖, a peer to peer networking downloading and slide load video multicast
from websites.
Uber requires its registered drivers to pass DMV and background check, and each driver must have their own
car which must is insured, because of this minimal entry requirements services attracts lot of people.
Excellent social media marketing, and aggressive courting of drivers and the catchy name has made Uber very
famous and has managed to capture its market share. the cost is comparatively cheap comparing to other
taxi’s. Every city operates with a different price and it provide explanation to its standard of pricing.
Estimated pricing is quoted in advance through the app for the customer to be informed.

2.2 PATHAO: Pathao, a start-up business of a young entrepreneur named Hussain M. Elius, is themost
successful app-based ride-sharing service in Bangladesh. Pathao is continuouslyspearheading the ride-sharing
industry along with the international giant Uber. Pathao broughtthe concept of beating the traffic by
introducing bikes, essentially the most efficient form oftransportation in jam-packed city like Dhaka, instead
of cars. Technically, it is having a similar business model of Go-Jek (Indonesia) and Safemotos (Rwanda). Thus,
Pathao is capitalizingon the technical know-hows of these two ride-hailing companies. Kamal and Ahsan
reportedthat,

the size of Dhaka’s ride

-sharing market is estimated to be BDT 22 billion (2200 crore) ayear. Besides, it has become a new source of
income to the unemployed people of the country.

On an average, a rider’s monthly income is approximately BDT 60,000/month whereas a driverof a CNG-

autorickshaw’s income is BDT 45000/month.However, safety is an issue when itcomes to bike riding. Lots of
news regarding accidents while availing ride-share services isanother obstacle for the organizations who are
into this business. With all the considerationstaken into account, there is no doubt that these ride-sharing
service providers are improvingthe transportation sector as well as boosting the economy of Bangladesh in
terms of creating jobs. However, just like any other innovation, legitimate questions are also being raised
pertaining to security and policy imperatives
