Year Level:________________ Quarter: Third Quarter
Lesson Title: Coulomb’s Law Lesson No: 3

I. Learning Objective/s:
At the end of the lesson, you should be able to:
1. discuss the Coulomb’s law;
2. demonstrate on how to use the formula of Coulomb’s law; and
3. develop pleasure in learning Coulomb’s law through practicing problem solving.
II. Instructions in using the module:
To achieve the objectives cited above, you are to do the following:
 Take your time to read the lessons carefully.
 Follow the directions and/or instructions in the activities and exercises diligently.
 Answer all the given tests and exercises.
 Must have scientific calculator to answer the exercises.
III. Learning Experiences
A. Concept Notes
COULOMB’S LAW
 Charles-Agustin de Coulomb
 states that the magnitude the electrical force between two charged particles is directly proportional
to the product of the magnitudes of the charges and inversely proportional to the square of the
distance between them
FORMULA:

WHEREIN:
(Electric force) = Newton/N →
(Coulomb’s constant value) =
( ) ( ) Charges in coulombs = Coulomb/C
r (Distance) = meter/m

PREFIXES:
means micro 1 =
n means nano =
p means pico =

ABSOLUTE VALUE

This image shows a piece definition of absolute value where x is different depending on weather
x is positive or negative to begin with. Absolute value explains that whatever electric charge the given
has, the sign will always be positively charged.

GIVEN: FIND:
Electric force = ?

SOLUTION:
1. Write down first the formula of electric force for a pattern.

4. Last step; write the final answer together with the unit. The final answer will always be positive.

You can also use this method using scientific calculators, type the following:
( 9) ( )( ) ( )
