1.INTRODUCTION
Dadar Market Area located near the iconic Plaza Theatre, Dadar. This area is
usually flooded with people from various social and economical backgrounds during
festivals and on daily basis too.
Ranging from the ‘Phool market’ located at under the bridge adjacent to the
Dadar station towards the Plaza Theatre and Kabutar Khanna everything around and
in it can be considered as a overly crowded yet a vibrant market place.
The Dadar Market is an important cultural and social element of the city. It is
one of the few markets that keep the city alive during the day as well as the night.
With time, the city of Mumbai got overcrowded and the pedestrian traffic at
the city increased, overcrowding the market area on the daily basis.
It is important to counter these problems while keeping the cultural and social
value of the market intact for the ease of its commuters.
Tackling its erratic functionality and also keeping in the mind the current
pandemic situation and tackling its issues to avoid future outbreaks while keeping
the regular traffic feel incorporated into the market.
3.AIM
To tackle the erratic functionality of the Dadar Market area with design
solutions through architecture while keeping its cultural and social value intact. Also
implementing design solutions to avoid future disease outbreak.
4.OBJECTIVES
(A) Social :
• To improve the already existing Dadar Market Area to ease the experience of
the commuters.
• To give the market a certain amount of infrastructure as well as making it
easier to be accessed.
• To make it inclusive of all the people irrespective of their challenges, making it
a barrier free design.

• To keep the cultural aspect of the Dadar Market Area intact.
(C) Physical :
• To organise enough spaces for them to be accumulated by the pedestrians.
• To organise enough open spaces to tackle overcrowding.
