Fida just moved into a new house in Bangsar, Kuala Lumpur. She received a letter from her
friend Mina who is in Georgetown, Penang.
Dear Fida,
How are you? I hope you are fine. You must be
busy now. My parents took me to the circus last Sunday.
We occupied the seats in the second row from the ring where
all the performances took place. The first act was the trapeze
act that involved both men and women. In a twinkling of
an eye, they leapt from one trapeze to another in mid-air.
Every time that happened, my heart skipped a beat. Write to
me about your new place. Bye.
Your friend,
Mina

Dear Andrew,
How are you, Andrew? The school holidays are just around the corner and I am planning to
visit Cameron Highlands. May I stay at your place? I have a school project and planned to
do it in Cameron Highlands. Your house is in the countryside and it‟s a perfect location to do
my project. I also need a breath of fresh air to break from the hustle and bustle of the city.
The project is about „The Wonders of Nature‟. I will be able to take many snapshots of the
beautiful trees and flowers near your place. I can also include snapshots of the various birds
there.
In a fortnight, I will take the bus to Cameron Highlands. Please meet me at the station. I will
stay for a week there and do my project. During my free time, I hope we will be able to go to
the stream like the last visit. Do reply as soon as possible. Bye.

Questions 24 and 25
Read the story below and answer the questions that follow.
Benny and Ah Chong were passing Encik Ramlan‟s orchard in the village. They could
not help noticing the ripe, red and juicy-looking rambutans hanging in bunches from the
branches of the tree. They gave in to their temptation and decided to pluck some. Ah Chong
climbed the tree while Benny waited for him to drop the fruits.
“Who gave you permission to pluck rambutans?” thundered Encik Ramlan‟s voice. He
stood angrily with his hands on his hips. “Come down quickly!” Encik Ramlan shouted
again.
Benny looked at Ah Chong with fright. Ah Chong quickly came down. They went
over to Encik Ramlan and apologised to him. Encik Ramlan roared out with laughter. “You
could have asked me and I would have gladly plucked some for you,” he said.
The boys heaved a sigh of relief. Encik Ramlan then took a long pole and plucked the
rambutans for the boys. He told them to sit under the tree and feast on the fruits. The boys
enjoyed eating the fruits. They then thanked Encik Ramlan.
