Q.1) Why do you think an operating system is essential?


An operating system is the most important software that runs on a computer. It manages
the computer's memory and processes, as well as all of its software and hardware. It also
allows you to communicate with the computer without knowing how to speak the computer's
language.
Q.2) Compare single user and multiuser operating system.
The difference between single user and multiuser operating system is that in a single user
operating system only one user can access the computer system at a time while in a
multiuser operating system multiple users can access the computer system at a time.

Q.3) Define icon and give examples

An Icon may refer to a pictorial symbol we use in a GUI (graphical user interface). Icons are
a visual representation of something on your computer.
Examples: Recycle bin, Google chrome

Q.4) Do you think recycle bin is an important icon on desktop? why?

Yes, recycle bin is important icon on desktop. Typically, a recycle bin is presented as a


special file directory to the user (whether or not it is actually a single directory depends on
the implementation), allowing the user to browse deleted (removed) files, undelete those that
were deleted by mistake, or delete them permanently.

Q.5) Explain parts of window screen

 Start Menu. The start menu is like a road map for your computer.
 Search Box. The search box allows you to quickly search your computer and
the Internet at a point, right from the taskbar.
