statement and formulate research questions. Then the researcher need to collect quantitative
or qualitative data depending on your research questions.
- Quantitative data- numerical or statistical data
- Qualitative data – descriptive data in words or phrases.
Some of the methods covered here are quantitative, dealing with something that can be
counted. Others are qualitative, meaning that they consider factors other than numerical
values. In general, questionnaires, surveys, and documents and records are quantitative, while
interviews, focus groups, observations, and oral histories are qualitative. There can also be
crossover between the two methods.
b. Step 2: Choose your data collection method
Since most research involves the collection of data, there are several methods for data
collection:
- Data collection methods (Identify and discuss)
Experiment
In the analysis phase, the researcher compares group scores on some dependent variable.
Based on the analysis, the researcher draws a conclusion about whether the treatment
(independent variable) had a causal effect on the dependent variable.
Survey
Surveys collect information from a targeted group of people about their opinions, behavior,
or knowledge. Common types of example surveys are written questionnaires, face-to-face or
telephone interviews, focus groups, and electronic (e-mail or website) surveys.
Interview/focus group
Are interviews you conduct with individual or group of participants to collect a variety of
information.
Observation
Ethnography
Ethnographies focus on describing the culture of a group in very detailed and complex manner.
The ethnography can be of the entire group or a subpart of it. It involves engaging in extensive
field work where data collection is mainly by interviews, symbols, artifacts, observations, and
many other sources of data.
Archival research
records (including electronic records), objects, sound and audiovisual materials, or other
materials.
Secondary data means data collected by someone else earlier. These documents can be made
available by public libraries, websites, Government publications, books, journal articles,
internal records etc. data obtained from already filled in surveys, observations, experiments,
questionnaire, personal interview.
The researcher will make decisions about who will be surveyed, how data will be collected, the sources
of data that will be used, and the duration of the data collection project, among other questions. These
decisions may be made in consultation with an expert. The methods and approaches will flow from the
goals set.

We should read a data gathering procedure example because through it you can determine if you receive
a piece that is trustworthy or not. It is crucial to employ the best procedure to get the perfect results and
it also improves the quality of the paper and makes it sound scholarly. A data gathering procedure example
helps you to be well-versed with the procedure that can make your work easier and improve the general
quality of the papers you can prepare.
it is the technique used to obtain the information used in a dissertation to substantiate the claims made
by a writer.
The factors that determines the sample of data gathering procedure are the course and topic of study
handled, specific faculty guidelines on data gathering and personal preferences in data gathering.

Reaction Paper on planning your data collection procedures
The reading is all about data gathering procedures applicable in our research study and samples of data
gathering procedure. The relevance of the reading to me as a student of PSU Graduate Studies and as a
member of the society is that as researchers it is important for us to plan for the data collection phase to
ensure that our research project has collected the highest quality data. Collecting data allows us to store
and analyze important information about our existing and potential samples or respondents. It costs less
and is faster if we plan the data collection ahead and it removes any potential bias or human error from
the data collected. It is through data collection that your research has the quality information they need
to make informed decisions from further analysis, study, and research. Without data collection, the
research itself would stumble around in the dark using outdated methods in making their decisions. What
I find compelling in the reading or the new things I have learned is that I learned about the step-by-step
guide to data collection that includes sequence of steps that a researcher should follow to effectively
collect a data. My learning affected preconception and misconceptions that I thought that as researchers
we can choose whatever data collection methods we want but that is not the case we have to carefully
select data collection methods and follow the correct flow of the data collection procedures for us to have
accurate and precise data gathered with the use of the best method and procedure. If the data collection
method is not suitable to the research it can be conflicting to its suitability to a research. You have to
consider several factors in before collecting data like your aim or purpose, respondents, resources, issues
of confidentiality and the type of information. There are various methods of collecting data. I also learned
that data collection methods may also include the use of existing data.
V. ASSESSMENT TASKS
The teacher who handled the classes under experimentation discussed on how the
process starting from the pretest down to the posttest should be done. Two sets of tests
were administered to both groups; control and experimental groups. The pretest was
given before the experimentation began, and the posttest was administered after the
instruction was conducted. The study was conducted from January to March of school
year 2020-2021. After gathering the data, data were treated statistically, analyzed and
interpreted.
Following was the procedure of this study:
