Course Description:

Conceptual Science and Beyond 8 adheres to the objectives of the K to 12 Science

Curriculum in developing scientific literacy among learners that will prepare them to
become informed and participative citizens who are able to make judgements and
decisions regarding applications of scientific knowledge that may have social, health or
environmental impacts.

Course Objectives:

At the end of this chapter, the students must have developed the set standards for the
level such as the following:

1. Must have investigated the effects of some factors on the motion of an object, based
on the laws of motion.
2. Can differentiate the concept of work as used in Science and in layman’s language.
3. Know the factors that affect the transfer of energy, such as temperature difference and
the type (Solid, Liquid or Gas) of the medium.
4. Can explain how active faults generate earthquakes and how tropical cyclones
originate form warm ocean waters.
5. Recognize other members of the solar system.
6. Explain the behaviour of matter in terms of particles it is made of.
7. Recognize that ingredients in food and medical products are made up of particles of
matter and are absorbed by the body in the form of ions.
8. Recognize production as a process of cell division resulting in the growth of
organisms.
9. Must have delved deeper into the process of digestion as studied in the lower grades,
giving emphasis on proper nutrition for overall wellness, and
10. Can participate in activities that protect and conserve economically important species
used for food.
