While looking into the future of the healthcare needs, one of the things that come into

mind is the ability of the nursing practitioners to deal with the wide array of international health

issues and fragmentation of the healthcare system as well as the number of health staff that are

approaching their retirement age (Full Becker, Inc., 2020). Essentially, a critical evaluation of

these aspects alludes to the necessity of having more advanced practice nurses who are

independent providers of healthcare services. Besides, there is a need for advanced nursing

practitioners who are autonomous and flexible in decision-making processes and various roles.

Ideally, enrolling in a DNP program plays a significant role in preparing nurses at the

highest levels of their profession into different advanced nursing roles. Remarkably, the role of

DNP is not to alter the real scope of nursing roles and related advanced practices for registered

nurses. However, the DNP role is to prepare the highest-level professional nurses to work

collaboratively with colleagues with a master’s degree in more advanced roles (Full Becker, Inc.,

2020). Notably, this helps nursing practitioners work as care evaluators, agents of change, and

leaders while working with ADN prepared colleagues. The transition into the role of a DNP or

deciding to utilize it as the path to certifying the roles of acknowledged advanced practice

registered nurse allows all nursing practitioners to evaluate and manage change programs in the

healthcare facilities. Managing these changes is crucial, given that healthcare institutions must

identify opportunities for working efficiently with complex technological advancements.

There are two DNP Degrees levels on the doctoral level, including Doctorate of

Philosophy and Doctorate of Nursing Practice. The two are considered equal in the sense that

none is considered more advanced than the other. Upon completion of the DNP degree, the

pursuant develop skills for leading and initiating change implementation in a story-like manner.

My experience as a DNP allowed me to instigate consultations in the palliative care unit for

patients with the risk of chronic heart failure in the critical care unit (Full Becker, Inc., 2020).

My role in this department was grounded on my in-depth knowledge of research and guidelines

for working with patients suffering from heart failure. Notably, my skills and expertise in the

palliative care unit enabled me to deliver the best care to patients with various chronic heart

diseases.
