RISK MANAGEMENT PLAN
✤ a risk management plan is also called “risk mitigation plan” is a well defined
document that tells how to deal specific risk and what management actions must be
taken against those risk in order to mitigate or remove threats to the project task and
outcomes.
1. Risk Planning
✤ Avoidance – Change the project to avoid the risk. Change scope, objectives, etc.
✤ Mitigation – Take steps to reduce the probability and/or impact of a risk. Taking
early action, close monitoring, more testing, etc.
✤ the main principle of risk management is that it achieves the best possible outcome
and reduce volatility or uncertainty of outcomes.
✤ Risk management operates on a set of principles, and there have been several
attempts to define these principles. British Standard BS 31100 sets out 11 risk
management principles and the international standard ISO 31000 also includes a
detailed list of the suggested principles of risk management.
Principles of Risk Management:
✤ The purpose of risk management is the creation and protection of value. It improves
performance, encourages innovation and supports the achievement of objectives.
✤ The principles provide guidance on the characteristics of effective and efficient risk
management, communicating its value and explaining its intention and purpose.
✤ The principles are the foundation for managing risk and should be considered when
establishing the organization’s risk management framework and processes. These
principles should enable an organization to manage the effects of uncertainty on its
objectives.
