Studies show that approximately about 10% of the world`s population considers themselves as “gay”

or “lesbian”. The word “homosexual”is just sophisticated name for someone that is infatuated with
their own gender. The big issue about homosexuality is giving people right to be open with their
relationship, by legazing gay or same sex marriage.

However, religious views point out that marriage should be between women and men. As the
bible says marriage is traditional and intimate and should not be of same sex but of the opposite sex.
Not all religious people go exactly by the bible. ‘ Some religious association refuse to employ or even
offer services to same sex couples. Christian groups who argue for same sex merriage tend to
believe that lesbian and gay peopleswere created as such by God and shouldhave the same rights as
others

Some individuals with religious views feel that same sex relationship immoral and against God’s will
and will destroy the goal of human sexuality, which is reproduce children.

Religious groups all over the world are different. In some states that have already legalized
same sex marriage have minister that will still refuse to marry a gay couple due to their own
personal beliefs. Reigious groups also believe that AIDS is a punishments from God abovef or
disobeying his words. People who are religious also believe that a child should grow up with father
and a mother and not two parents of the same sex. There are studies found that when a child that

are capable of having a heterosexual family as well.

In Philippines there are no laws pertaining to sex marriage or unions, but at least one
church cites freedom of religion in sanctioning what it calls holy union. Same sex marriage is
gaining some ground in Southeast Asia, wit Democrat parliamentarian Wiratana Kalayarasiri
leading an iniative in Thailand. She dafted a legalization bill which would make Thailand the
first Asian country to do so. The filipino Ladlad party, whose founders, leaders and core
constituency belong to the LGBT community, was recognized by the government and
participated in party election in 2013.

Catholic bishops have voiced concern over proposed legalization to allow same sex marriage in
the Philippines.

“ It`s against our culture,” said Archbishop Ramon Arguelles of Lipa. “ It doens`t mean that just
because other countries have it we also have to follow,” he added

Catholic Church leaders, however, maintained that same sex marriage is against divine law. “
Marriage as willed by God between a man and a woman .” said Bishop Honesto Ongtioco od Cubao.

“The purpose of marriage is to have family, kids, but if the couple is of the same sex then one who
will suffer the most of this situation is their child because it`s not normal ,” said Bishop Arguelles.

“In the eye of God, a married couple is a man and a woman” Arguelles said.

Bishop Jose Oliveros said the church`s stand against same sex-same marriage “ in not matter of
rights but rather a matter of what is contrary to the nature of marriage.”

Church leaders last month announced that it will set up ministries in dioceses to help people to
understand the thinking of the church about same sex attraction.

Bishops |Gilbert Garcera of Daet, chairman of the episcopal Commision on Family ang Life, said the
objective of the ministry is to explain to Catholics the church ‘s stand on marriage
There is an opinion that gay marriage is harmful for society as it revearse roles in family life.
Men start to act like women and vice versa. That will make the community weak and
vulnerable. Of course, it may sound unfair, but there are certain masculine and feminine
professions. For example, man will be better in welder`s or plumber`s professions anyway.
Moreover, kids can get education, and it will badly affect their future. Boys should be
definitely taught that girls are weaker and it is inexcusable to hurt them. And some
