Interpretation

This course module will introduce you the basic concepts of educational
measurement and evaluation to the assessment of learning outcomes. Also, you will be
taught how to construct test, administer the test and analyze test items. The course module
further addresses how to interpret and validate test.

At the completion of this module, you are able to:

 Explain the nature and roles of a good assessment, and its relevance to learners,
teachers, parents, and stakeholders.
 Critique teacher-made tests as to the principles of high quality assessment.
 Construct sample classroom assessment test for measuring target learning
outcomes.
 Interpret a given set of assessment data for reporting purposes.
 Make a lesson with aligned learning objectives, teaching-learning activities and
assessment.

Lesson 2 Selecting and Constructing Test Items and Tasks

O bjectives :

At the end of the lesson you should be able to:


determine the different test types and its distinguishing features;
identify test types appropriate to gauge the learning outcomes provided; and
construct higher-order test items and task based on the crafted TOS.

Introduction

Welcome to Lesson 2 of Module 3! This lesson introduces you to a useful menu


of test types that are appropriate to gauge the learning outcomes proposed by the
curriculum standards, how to select them and how to construct them.

Lesson: Planning the Test
Specific Learning Objectives:
1. identify the steps in planning the test; (allocated time for lecture-30 minutes)
a. Identify the purpose of test in a given testing events;
b. Identify the test format appropriate in a given learning objectives;
2. explain what is TOS and its forms; (allocated time for lecture-30 minutes)
3. make a sample TOS of any of its forms. (allocated time for lecture and
performance -60 minutes)

Group 6 (Suplac, Lorenzana, Macabudbod, Magno, Sison)
Group 7 (Tiempo, Nunez, Oberez, Paniza, Salazar)

Lesson: Selecting and Constructing Test Items and Tasks


Specific Learning Objectives:
1. determine the different test types and its distinguishing features;
(allocated time for lecture-60 minutes)
2. categorize the general test types and its sub-types; and
(allocated time for lecture-15 minutes)
3. construct higher-order test items and task based on the crafted TOS.
(allocated time for lecture and performance -60 minutes)

3. Construct an appropriate test items and task following the TOS you have made.
