It is a mechanical apparatus
that is connected to a flammable gas
source. There is a knob to adjust the
amount of gas flow and a rotating
collar that controls airflow. These both
must be adjusted to get an ideal flame
for heating purposes.

This is a primary measuring tool to measure the volume

of a liquid. So, it has several markings up and down the length
There are a large variety of them. They are designed
of the container with specific increments. They cometo in many
accomplish specific goals. However, they are all for
sizes. The smaller they are in diameter, the more specific the an exact volume of liquid and placing it into

volume measurements will be. another container.

It is just a round piece of glass that is slightly

concave/convex. It can hold a small amount of liquid or solid.
They can be used for evaporation purposes and also can
function as a lid for a beaker.

PRECAUTIONS FOR CALIBRATION

 If CAL remains blinking and Err (error display) appears, the calibration is failed.
Check that the standard solution concentration is correct and perform calibration
again after cleaning the sensor well.
 If the calibration is failed using correct standard solution(s), the sensor may be
deteriorated. Replace the sensor with new one.
 In two-point calibration, confirm that the calibration operations are completed
respectively for low and high concentrations.
 The calibration operation for high concentration cannot start until the calibration
for low concentration is completed, and the whole calibration sequence is not
completed until the calibration for high concentration.

TEXT 4

Manufacturers are required to list all ingredients on the label. On a product

label, the ingredients are listed in order of predominance, with the
ingredients used in the greatest amount first, and followed in descending
order by those in smaller amounts. The label must list the names of any
FDA-certified color additives, but some ingredients can be listed collectively
as “flavours”, “spices”, “artificial flavouring” or in the case of color additives
exempt from certification (unless otherwise required by regulation)
“artificial colors” without naming each one. Declaration of an allergenic
2RD ACTIVITY

Task a: UNDERLINE THE PASSIVE VERBAL CONSTRUCTIONS

GUIDELINES FOR WORKING IN THE LABORATORY

 All accidents, injuries, and breakage of glass or equipment must be reported immediately.
 Pathways , countertops and shelves must be kept clear of extra items.
 A white jacket must be worn..
 Safety goggles must be worn when handling dangerous materials or working with fire.
 Unauthorized experiments or procedures must not be attempted.
 Solids must be kept out of the sink.
 The work station must be kept clean and in good order before leaving the laboratory.
 The laboratory tables are not seats.
 The location of the fire extinguisher, eye wash station, first aid kit and safety shower must be
known.
 Solutions, glassware or other types of apparatus must not be lifted above eye level.
 All materials and equipment must be transported safely.
 No foods or drinks are allowed to be consumed in the lab

……1…….. Secure the area.

REGULATOR
……………. Put goggles on.

……………. Roll up any sleeves or clothing.

……………. Make sure there’s no paper , technology or anything that can catch fire around.

……………. Check your equipment

……………. Make sure your hair is pulled back

Task b: WHICH ELEMENTS DO THESE INSTRUCTIONS OR FACTS REFER TO?

STRIKER GAS AIR AIR INLET

1) ……………………. Close it completely and open two full turns.

2) ……………………. Close it completely so as to avoid any air coming in.

3) ……………………. Light the burner with it.

4) ……………………. This comes out of the burner and ignites when it encounters

the flame.

5) ……………………. When there isn’t any coming in through the air inlet, there is a

luminous flame. In order to have a non-luminous flame, which is good for heating, some

of this must come in.
