USAGE Silicon Masonry Water Repellent is a ready to use aqueous solution. When
applied to remove - ground masonry, it penetrate the surface and renders it
highly water repellent. As a result of this penetration, usually about 1.5-3
mm depending or porosity of the material, affective water repellency after
some time due to weathering, it is suitable for application to most types of
above ground masonry, eg: brick work, concrete, asbestos cement
rendering, etc. It is a water based solution and hence can be applied to
damp surfaces, provided these still posses sufficient absorbency. It is
suitable for injection by gravity or pressure methods into walls to check
rising damp where the DPC is defective. Drillings should be made at 4-8
inch intervals, depending on wall thickness and porosity.
FEATURES Painting of Silicone Treated Surfaces
The water repellent should be applied to masonry prior to painting with Oil
or Emulsion Pints. It should be allowed to dry for at least 24 hours before
painting. It could be added to the emulsion paint immediately before
painting to give increased water repellency; but compatibility should be
checked in solution and film. Where cement paints are used, it is
recommended that the Silicone Water Repellent be applied over the
cement paint.
Silicones are inert materials and the like of the Water Repellent within the
pores is same as the life of the structure. The duration of the protection
offered by Silicone treatment is dependent on:
Water under hydrostatic pressure will penetrate the treated walls. For this
reason, Silicone Water Repellent is recommended for application above
ground level only.

2. All cracks and faulty joints are repaired since Silicone Masonry Water
Repellent is only effective in minimising water penetration through the
normal pores and capillaries of masonry surfaces.
DIRECTIONS FOR USE The prepared solution can be applied by brush or spraying to flood the
masonry surface and give a run down of about 15cm (6"). A one-coat
application gives effective water repellency. On very coarse surfaces, two
coats may be required. At least six hours should be allowed for air drying
between applications. For less demanding applications, it could be diluted
with an equal volume of water.
The aqueous solution is alkaline care must be taken to avoid contact with
skin and eyes. If skin contact should occur, the affected area should be
well washed with soap and water. If it gets into the eye, flush immediately
with for at least 15 minutes and obtain medical attention, if necessary.
