Sevabharathi Tamilnadu conducts free tuition centres in backward areas and slums catering to

the needs of students from backward, most backward and economically weaker sections. The

Setting up A Tuition Centre (Part 2)
May.25, 2007 in Business
We didn’t spend a lot when we are setting up our learning centre. The office furniture was
bought from Makro and we assembled them ourselves. We bought the franchise with lots of
money, so we wanted to save up on the setting up cost.
If possible, try looking for 2nd handed tables and chairs for the classrooms. You will
definitely save up a lot from there, and it is not necessary to have well furnish tables for the
students. They will mess up the tables anyway! And if you pay a fortune on them, you will be
very disheartened later.
I would suggest getting great air-conditioners because they have to be turned on for long
hours. If they are not funstioning well, your classes will be badly affected. At the same time,
negotiate with your landlord to see if he can pay up for 3-phrase electrical supply. It’s quite
costly, and if you pay for it by yourself, you will only increase the value of the property for
your landlord as you can’t remove it, and he can charge higher rental to the next tenant
because lots of business tenant wants 3 phrase supply.
BTW, if you talk to your landlord, request for tiles flooring. But don’t pay for it if he refuses
to come out with the cost. Then you have no choice but to go for carpet, which needs more
cleaning up and vacuuming
Setting up A Tuition Centre (Part 3)
May.25, 2007 in Business
Let’s assume that you have got all your documents and your centre set up, what should you
do next?
It’s time to start enrolling students as without them, you don’t have any income source.
Firstly, you must do a market research on the other centres around yours and get informations
on their fees, subjects taughts, number of classes per week for the same student, the duration
of the class and the scope they would cover on their school work.
It’s very easy to be done, just call up as spy. LOL! Yes, just call up and ask. If they refuse to
tell you, just let it be. Some will give you a full insight of their programs and you can use it as
a reference when you are setting up your fee and courses. At the same time, if you manage to
get their promotional brochures, keep copies of them as you can check out the pricing and
also be updated about your competitors promotion plans, if any.
Then, you can start designing your brochures and banners to attract students and parents to
your centre. If you can design it by yourself, you will save up a lot. I’ve got used to designing
brochures, as long as I have the details and pictures. It’s really easy to be done, and even if
you don’t design with software, the printing company will also help you out.
After start, you need to distribute the brochures out but bear in mind that the effectiveness
depends a lot on the days and time they are being distributed out. Besides, you have to make
sure that you get help from reliable distribution company because I came across one that
placed my 5-10 sheets of brochures at the same house. So, you can imagine how much I’ve
lost from 10K sheets of brochures.
At the same time, you can consider the successful rate is quite high if you have 10% of
response from the number of sheets you have given out. It’s not really a high stat as
comparing to newspapers advertisement or banners, but it’s worth trying out.
Besides that, quality teaching is important too. No point being able to attract lots of students
and they can’t see anything good about your centre. A satisfied customer will only tell 3
person about their satisfaction, but an unsatisfied on will tell 10 persons! So, it’s all about
quality teaching. If the teachers are great, without any P&A, the students will still come in.

Advantage:1. It helps to solve problems which we can't in school.

2. We can give our extra time in tuition bt in school there is limited time
period.
3. We can get extra knowledge in tuition.
Disadvantage: 1. It makes the student lazy. After joining tuition students
never try to read books they try to listen whatever the sir says.and it is very
bad habit.Students should have ability to do read all things by themselves. If
they are not understanding then school is sufficient for that to understand any
topic.
advantages:
1. gain extra knowledge that may not learn in the school
2. can be more concentrate as tuition centre environment is better
3. maximize students time rather than involved in immoral activities
4. can exchange ideas and exam questions with new friends there

disadvantages:
1. increase the burden of parents as the tuition fees are expensive
2. become competitive tool to the parents who compete their children result with others
3. cause tremendous pressure to students which will leads to social problems
