An Entrance to the World of Marketing
In past two years in this course, Accountancy, we were so focused on the
financial side of an entity and how to deal with different transactions. As my third year
started, and this subject was introduced to me, I realized that an entity is so much more
than just its financial side. Although marketing was introduced to us when we were in
our 11th grade, I can say that this subject will be a lot more than just an introduction and
will require us to exert more effort. And as I watched the video, it opened my eyes to so
much more things such as the marketing and how marketing managers deal with such.
There are three main things I learned about the video. First is that marketing is
customer-oriented, and its main goal is to satisfy the needs of the customers especially
in a competitive market. Second is, how marketing works. I learned in the video
discussion that it flows and follows a process that involves analyzing the situation,
setting the marketing goals and strategies, identifying and setting up the marketing mix,
organization and control. As someone who is new to marketing, it somehow made me
realize that without following the said process, it would be very difficult to start a
business. Lastly is how, with the given processes made, marketing managers decide for
the business. For me, it is very risky to decide because it will finalize the move of the
business, for example when launching a new product and deciding on what kind of
promotion and introduction of the product to be used by the business. But as I went
along the discussion, I learned that decisions are not only made by a single person.
Marketing management has its separate department in the business wherein in the said
department, there are several managers that brainstorms and does a lot of assessment
first before coming up with a decision.
As I learned all about these things, I can say that it can be a big help in my future
career such as how marketing department works a and cooperates with the accounting
department in a way that expenses and costs are being considered, find a way on how
to minimize the costs used by the products being made and many more other
involvements between the two said departments. Another is, as an accountant, clients
may seek advice about marketing alongside with their financing needs. This can widen
my knowledge on how business really works and can influence other’s decisions in
doing their businesses. As an accountant, I should be able to give off good sets of
advice and help others.
For an entity to say that it is marketable, it should create a profitable exchange
for consumers such as a positive profitable personal value evaluation. My experience in
Jollibee for example. I can say that with the price I paid, and the time and effort it costed
me, compared to the benefit I got, such as the food and service, I can say that I am
satisfied with it. I can also say that my money, effort and time are not wasted and got
the worth of them through the quality of the food and service I got from the said entity.
With the given result, I can say that the said entity really ensures that the service and
food satisfy its customers. Other factors are also considered such as its promotion, the
place itself, and its staffs that accommodate the customers. Lastly, we can also say that
with the given situation we are in, such as the pandemic, Jollibee was able to adapt and
make changes with its system of service.
