Purpose At first, thank you for choosing ZXMSG 5200 Multiplex Service
Gateway of ZTE Corporation!
ZXMSG 5200 Multiplex Service Gateway is an access device in the
NGN system. It communicates with the SS through the H.248,
SIP, or MGCP protocol. The ZXMSG 5200 equipment consists of the
control switching card, media resource card, test card, power card,
and subscriber cards, integrating the narrowband and broadband
access. The SS provides the call service and the Internet provides
the broadband service.
This manual provides the usage guide of ZXMSG 5200 Multiplex
Service Gateway documentation set.

Chapter 1 describes the general contents of each manual. Al-
though these manuals focus on different parts, they are related
to each other. An understanding of such relations helps users to
better understand and use these manuals to the best. The rela-
tionship between different manuals is shown in Figure 1.
Network Planning
Feature Description, Product Information, and Hardware Descrip-
tion are helpful in network planning.
� Both Feature Description and Product Information provide gen-
eral descriptions on system principles.
� Hardware Description provides detailed descriptions on system
hardware and functions.
Service Configuration
Configuration Manuals and Command Manuals are helpful in ser-
vice configuration. They provide instructions for system operation
and maintenance.
Configuration Manual (CLI) helps the user to implement the config-
uration in CLI mode. Refer to Command Manuals for the detailed
command explanation and usage.
Configuration Manual (NetNumen ) helps the user to implement
the configuration in NMS mode. The operator complete a specific
task by converting the task into a series of interface operations,
which the system can understand and accept. Through these in-
terface operations with some necessary hardware operations, the
operator completes the configuration of the NE.
Command Manuals describe command function, syntax, parame-
ters, and examples.
Network Maintenance
Routine Maintenance Manual is helpful for equipment maintenance
. Troubleshooting Manual provides reference for troubleshooting
query.
Usage Examples
This topic introduces the usage of the attached documentation by
taking Configuration Manuals (CLI) as an example.
Configure the VoIP service by using Configuration Manuals (CLI).
1. Refer to the section ‘Login Modes’ for the two methods to visit
ZXMSG 5200 (V3.1) in commands.
2. Refer to the section ‘VoIP PSTN Service Basic Configuration’
for the configuration data to activate the service. The prereq-
uisites of the configuration include:
� The hardware configurations of ZXMSG 5200 (V3.1) are
complete.
� The equipment and line work normally.
� The in-band or out-of-band NM of the NE is configured.
3. Refer to the section ‘Hardware Configuration’ to configure the
rack, shelf, and card.
4. Refer to the section ‘Management Modes’ to configure the
in-band or out-of-band NM.
5. Refer to the section ‘VoIP PSTN Service Basic Configuration’ to
complete the VoIP service configuration.
6. Refer to the chapter ‘Narrowband Service Related Configura-
tion’ to configure the other VoIP service.

Manual Download
Log into ZTE technical support website http://ensup-
port.zte.com.cn. Perform the following steps to download product
manuals:
1. Input account and password in User Center area. Click Log
In. If the user is not registered, click Register. The user gets
an account and password after registration.
2. Find the manual the user needs and download it. There are
three methods to find a manual.
� Select Documentation > Product Manuals. Select
PSTN. All PSTN products are listed in this window. Select
ZXMSG 5200 from Access Network list. All manuals
related to ZXMSG 5200 are listed. Select the manual the
user needs and click Documents download to download
the manual.
� Select Documentation > Product Manuals. Input key
words in the Keyword text box, then, click Search to find
the manual.
