Trend (Dip Trend as well as the dip of the ore body swing continuously within the area
and Strike) depicting a complex folded structure. Trend of the ore body varies from almost E-
W to NW-SE with dip towards south near Kochar pit whereas the trend changes to
almost N-S with dip towards east in Kochar Top. The trend of ore body in
Kishantanki varies from NE-SW to ENE-WSW with dip towards north. Similarly,
the trend near F-level varies from NE-SW to NW-SE dipping towards north. The
general dip of strata varies from 230 to 320.

8 Hydrography
Local surface Numerous gullies along the scarp slopes along all flanks of eastern block collect
Drainage rain water and join to form small local nallahs. These eventually discharge into the
Patterns Bankabal Nallah and Jiran Nallah. The flow of water in these nallahs is mostly
(Channels) observed during the rainy season and in the dry season water flow is very less.
The drainage of the area is from the hill top to the periphery along steep slopes in
all directions.
Rivers/ The water from the top, after flowing through a number of local streams, forms
Streams the Jiran Nala in the NW and Bankabal River in South. Ultimately water of
Bankabal river discharges to Bankabal Reservior, which originates on the south-
eastern side of the Dandrahar Pahar. This River carries almost the whole drainage
of lease area as also that of core and buffer zones (except a small area of the buffer
zone in the north west, which is drained by the Jiran Nallah).

Morphology The total lease area is 349.50 Ha, the Eastern part of which represents a rugged
of the area topography and consists of dissected steep hill range with elongated narrow to
wide hill valleys in between. The altitudes ranges from 480m to 906m above mean
sea level. Kochar hill of the block is a prominent peak in the region having RL of
906m. Most of the area in this block has been degraded/utilized for quarrying,
dumping, road etc arising out of mining and allied activities. Western part of the
area is mostly of plain land. Highest & lowest altitudes are at 350m & 290m
above MSL.
