Density and

Properties of Matters
Objective
The objective of experiment 1 was to compact the density of water, oil, and glycerine the
objective experiment 2 was to know effect the temperatures to diffusion

Hypothesis
The greater the density of matters (water, oil, and glycerine), the lower the positions
the higher of temperatures the faster of the diffusion

Material and equipment

# Material:
-water
-boil
-glycerine
-food coloring

# Equipment:
-plastic cup
-stop watch

Procedure:
# Procedure For Experiment 1
1. Get a glass of tap water and add a 3-4 drops of food coloring (any color)
2. In plastic glass/Cup, pour coloring water , oil and glycerine
3. Observe the formation of layers. Take a picture of it to be put in result
# Procedure For Experiment 2
1. Prepare hot water in a cup
2. Prepare cold water in another cup
3. Drop each 3-4 drops of coloring food in to each cup, leave it at stable surface. Start
the stopwatch to count the time
4. Observe which one has the fastest diffusion
RESULT
#Experiment 1

#Experiment 2

Analyze
# Experiment 1
The result of experiment 1 is that glycerine is at the bottom, oil is at the top and water is in
the middle. When the material has a greater density, it will be in a lower position. Density is
a physical property that compares the amount of matter of material (mass) in a given amount
of space (volume) from this experiment can be determined that material that the highest
density is glycerine because the positions of glycerine at the bottom and the material that
have lowest density is oil because the positions of oil is at the top.
# Experiment 2
the result of experiment 2 is diffusion is faster than in cold water because in hot water the
water molecules have more energy and are moving faster than the molecules of cold water.
That proved with the time of difussion that needed in hot water is less than in cold water. The
time in hot water is 00:47:77 and the time in cold water is 02:15:14.

Conclusions
From the experiment it can be concluded that :
• From the experiment, it Can be concluded that : The order of density from smallest
are oil < water < glycerin
• Faster diffusion occurs at higher temperatures.
