UNIT 3
INTRODUCTION

► Motivation is one of the most discussed topics in the present.

► Companies are investing a significant resources in improving
productivity in order to make bigger profits.
► One of these important resources is human nature.
► In order to get the best out of employees, some motivational approaches
need to be used.
1-ONE TO ONE
CORRESPONDANCE

► The one-to-one meeting or exchange of letters will prompt

employees to discuss individual and team priorities.
► Cover the priorities for the next few weeks and, if
organisational priorities have changed recently, use this time to
adapt accordingly.
2-UNDERSTANDING

► A team is made up of individuals who have their own unique

circumstances, backgrounds and experiences.
► Consequently, each person may be driven by different motivating factors,
and be more or less adept at self-motivation.
► When you make an effort to understand each team member, you can help
them stay motivated.
3-INDIVIDUAL MOTIVATION

► There are a number of tools and strategies that you can use to tailor your
approach to motivation – and not all are completely consistent with one
another.
► However, it's important to remember that every individual and situation is
different,
► so make sure that you choose the theory or model that best fits your
circumstances.
4-MOBILISING OPTIMAL
PERFORMANCE

► You will complete leadership duty of motivating others with a clear sense
of how to energize and mobilize people
► Motivate others to reach their optimal performance through authentic and
effective leadership.
► Establishing ways to reward your team and to recognize the merits helps
you get the results you want,
► those results that lead to achieving a target.
5-PRAISE AND COMPLIMENT

► This is the way to reward them and provide evidence of your

gratitude.
► Send a handwritten note thanking them for the extra effort on a large
project.
► Certificates, gift cards, plaques, public recognition, another
interesting project, and more responsibility are all ways to reward
people.
6-GOAL SETTING FOR INDIVIDUAL
EMPLOYEE

► For this you can challenge them.

► Start a friendly competition among teams or departments, ideally
one in which everyone can win or learn something.
► Keep the competition among teams, not individuals, to prevent it
from becoming too contentious.
7-INDIVIDUAL CULTIVATION OF
SKILLS

► Some people sought to continuously improve their skills and talents.

► One of their goals to learn how to do their job better or improve at their
skills. If so, they may be in need of some competence motivation.
► It helps others to push forward and become more competent in a certain
area and improve their skills.
► It is helpful when it comes to learning new skills and figuring
out ways around obstacles that one is faced with in
different areas of life.
8- FACILITATING ACTIVE
INVOLVEMENT

► Ask them what it will take for them to get involved.

► Everyone is different, and what may be highly motivating for one person
could be agony for someone else.
► Give them the autonomy to decide how the work will be done, within
certain parameters.
► Give them ownership, but make sure you are available for answering their
questions.
9- TRUST IN THE WORKING
HANDS
► If a workplace is able to foster a strong sense of trust within their
organisation, the workers are motivated.
► They can see a number of benefits including:
• Increased productivity amongst staff
• Improved morale amongst employees and staff
• The ability to work more as a team, rather individuals
• Reduce the time to make and discuss key issues as each
individual trusts in the judgement and expertise of their
colleagues.
