Text 1: SHOPPING FOR SHOES

My friend Sarah loves to shop, but she doesn’t like to spend a lot of Money. She gets really excited
when she buys something on sale.
Sometimes she hears about big sales on TV or on the radio. She also looks for coupons in the
newspaper or ads in her mailbox.
Today she sees a big sign in a department store window. It’s says that sneakers are 40%(percent) off.
Her daughter likes to rum and she needs new running shoes. She goes inside the store the prices are
very good. Sneakers were $100, and now they are $60.
She talks to the sales person and buys size 7 running shoes for her daughter.
Sarah brings the shoes home, and her daughter is very happy.
She says, “Thanks, Mom! These shoes are awesome!”
Sarah also bought herself a pair of running shoes. She wants to rum with her daughter every
morning.

Text 2: JOHN AND JENNIFER

John Smith is a Mechanic. He lives in a two-bedroom apartment in New York. His apartment is on
the third floor of a building on Winter Street. John likes his apartment. The neighborhood is safe. The
building is clean. And the neighbors are very friendly. Jennifer Jackson lives downstairs on the first floor.
She is a hairdresser. She likes her apartment too. She also likes John.
She thinks he’s handsome. Every morning Jennifer looks out of her window and up at John’s
apartment. John also looks out of his window and down at Jennifer’s apartment. They both say “Good
Morning.”
Tonight John looks out of his window and sees Jennifer downstairs. He gets a little nervous.
He says “Hi, my name is John.” Jennifer says “Hello, John. I’m Jennifer. It’s nice meeting you.”
Then John asks Jennifer if she can go out for dinner with him at an Italian restaurant downtown.
Jennifer smiles and says, “Yes, thank you. But I need to home early by eight pm. I have to work at seven in
the morning.
