Mary Beth Hyland

‘Your Past does not define you.' These are the words that Mary Beth Hyland, took to heart and lived
her life in accordance with.
Mary Beth Hyland had a tough and disturbing childhood. She came from a very poor family and had a
tough time dealing with her life. She was abused and exploited by her father and was manipulated into
not disclosing it to anybody. She lived her early life in fear and being on guard almost all the time.
However, she did not let her past hold her back. She moved out when she was an early adult and
realised that her experiences with her past had instilled hard-won survival skills in her. While fighting
to live as a kid, she developed a set of skills that allowed her to grasp human dynamics and how to
adapt to various interests and personalities. Her own goal, she realised, is to create venues where
people's voices are heard, experiences are shared, and purpose is sparked.
She honed her technological talents and established SparkVision, a company that focuses on
workplace culture in order to build conditions that allow people to thrive. She is currently working in
a company that values human connection and empowerment. This company is based on the survival
skills she learned as a child.
MaryBeth Hyland understands that remarkable success is built on the vision, values, and culture that
purpose-driven leaders and their tribe create. She's recognised for her capacity to develop movements
across generations, with over 12 years of experience and expertise from a BA in Social Work and an
MS in Nonprofit Management.
Takeaway: Mary Beth’s life was filled with hardships and unspeakable things. However, she used
that as fuel to build her skills and learning abilities in order to benefit the world. In the same way, we
should realise that our past does not define us. No matter how bad our experiences are, we need to
realise that we too can learn from them, develop ourselves, and do extraordinary things that benefit
ourselves and the world around us.
