Redefining Living Condition: Exploring a New Design Paradigm for a Sustainable Post-
Pandemic Low-Rise Apartment Building.
✓ Innovative buildings in terms of sustainability, green designs and energy efficient designs
IV. Objectives
V. Significance/Justification
Life after the Covid-19 outbreak will never be the same as before. We are at the beginning of the end, waiting
for a new beginning. The forecasts appear one by one. Some of them are more optimistic, some not. But
almost everyone agrees that, despite a decline of such unprecedented scale, humanity will still find the
strength to recover.
Values will change, our lives and habits will change, and our homes will also change under that influence.
Covid-19 will reshape the architecture and interior layout of houses in the post-pandemic era. With gradual
development to normalize the city’s condition in the coming years, I believe future apartment buildings in
Baguio City should adapt to the case of the living condition during the pandemic, so as to be flexible in
preparing when such outbreak can occur again in the city.
Designing new layouts for apartment homes for the new normal lifestyle may help mitigate problems we had
during the pandemic. With incorporation of sustainable strategies, this will also make the building self-
sufficient.

A Biophilic Design for a Youth Mental Rehabilitation Center: Preparing Youths with Mental
Disability in Mainstream Society
✓ Innovative buildings in terms of sustainability, green designs and energy efficient designs
✓ Special and interactive building use
✓ Site and physical planning and development
IV. Objectives
- To design a Mental Rehabilitation Center that will cater for the youth in Baguio City.
- To apply biophilic approach as a holistic design in enhancing the building as a healing oasis.
- To determine ?????
V. Significance/Justification
Mental health treatment for the youth is incredibly important, yet often overlooked by society. While more
and more people are drawing attention to the destructive power of untreated mental illnesses, we still
have a very long way to go.
Mental health is a timely issue in our society. I believe Baguio City is not inferior when it comes to this
matter, many of our youths undergo with this condition and some may necessarily need to seek help
when dealing under such circumstances. I believe this facility would be a great help to our community in
helping mold the minds of our youths who suffers mental illness.
Incorporating Biophilic design can reduce stress, enhance creativity and clarity of thought, improve our
well-being and expedite healing. I believe this kind of design approach would create an oasis of healing,
growth and progress for its patients.
