Over the past three years Marino Enterprises has grown considerably and have expanded their community

local employment provider, Marino employ a number of people with disabilities, mature-age people and
Indigenous Australians.
Marino has also engaged two local schools with which they employ and train a small group of school-based
trainees across all facets of their business.
Marino Enterprises also employ a large group of people from the LGBTIQ community, immigrants and
international travelling backpackers. This has not been a deliberate policy or program of the company but
rather a word of mouth as an employer of choice in the community.
With such a diverse and transient workplace, Marino Enterprises feel that their Diversity Policy isn’t matching
the work that they do now. There have also been a couple of situations that have not been handled or
managed well.

1. Analyse and review Marino Enterprises Diversity policy and provide feedback in a report to management.
The policy is located in the Marino Enterprises Handbook.
Along with explaining the importance and purpose of having a robust diversity policy you are required to
make recommendations for improvement so the policy extends to meet the changing workplace
environment and culture, and is current in relation to the legislation framework.
Your report should be clear and concise and be written in a language suitable for the audience. You should
also follow the Marino Enterprises Style Guide when laying out, formatting and saving your report.
Note: use your research skills to review other diversity policies that are available through your business
networks or the Internet. Current legislation can be found at the Fair Work Ombudsman website
(www.fairwork.gov.au) and the Human rights Commission (https://www.humanrights.gov.au/employers/good-

range of individual characteristics and experiences, such as leadership and communication styles, career path,
life experience, educational background, marital status, parental status, and other variables that influence
personal perspectives.

1: Key features of the existing policy:

 Initiating and encouragingtransition of women into senior roles.

 Regular reviewing of the policies to address gender gaps that is a part of the Marino Enterprise mission statement,

3: What is lacking in the existing policy.

As Marino enterprise is employing a people from diverse background, they have also mentioned that they are
focusing on women on management and giving more priority to the women on a workplace. The Marino
enterprise focuseson women representation more and it does not talk about the equal opportunities across
all groups.

The policy of Marino enterprise lacks inclusion and provisions for the following groups listed below:

1. Thereis no focus on the professional development, career progression, educational opportunities, and

inclusion ofpeople from LGBTQI community.

2. There are incentives or initiatives to accommodate people with physical andor intellectual disabilities.

backgrounds, how their needs will be considered and accommodated.

4. Similarly, the employees who have study commitments, how their requests will be entertained.

8. Also there is no mention of the flexibility in rosters for people with different parental responsibilities.

4: Recommendations and feedback.

The solution for the policy that Marino enterprise is lacking are given below:

The people from LGBTIQ community: People who are working closely with these people on daily basis must
be trained on how to behave with them and how to address them.
2. People with physical and intellectual disabilities: People with physical disabilities must be provided with
facilities that are suitable for them to make their work easier. On the other hand, colleagues working closely
with the people having intellectual disabilities are to be trained how to work with them.
3. The people with different race and religions: Every employee working with these group of people must be
informed about how to respect every religions and races.
4. People with different ethnic backgrounds: People working together must be trained to respect people
from every ethnic background.

schedule.

5: Conclusion:

The suggestion has been made based on the statistics of current employees and the trend that is visible
through Marino enterprises recruitment strategy. It is also recommendations are made for people who may
not be currently employed with Marino enterprises but who are present in Australia may become choose to
work for enterprise in future. This policy recommendations are in line with the current legislation which are
laid out on the state level as well as federal level or the national level. These recommendations will encourage
the inclusion to all the ethnic groups as well as genders and age without bias and prejudice.
