QUY TẮC ĐÁNH TRỌNG ÂM

1. Trọng âm theo phiên âm

a. Quy tắc:
- Trọng âm không bao giờ rơi vào âm /ə/ hoặc là âm  / əʊ /
Ví dụ: mother /ˈmʌ.ðər Hotel /həʊˈtel/
*lưu ý: nếu như trong một âm có chưa cả 2 từ loại âm là /ə/ và / əʊ /
Thì trọng âm rơi vào âm có chưa âm / əʊ /.
Ví dụ: suppose  /səˈpəʊz/ ago /əˈgəʊ/
- Trọng âm thường rơi vào nguyên âm dài/ nguyên âm đôi hoặc âm cuối
kết thúc với nhiều hơn một phụ âm.
Ví dụ:
disease /dɪˈziːz/ S
explain /ɪkˈspleɪn/
comprehend  /ˌkɒm.prɪˈhend/
- Nếu tất cả các âm mà ngắn hết thì trọng âm rơi vào âm tiết thứ nhất.

Hậu tố là thành phần được thêm vào sau từ gốc. Hậu tố không phải là một từ và
cũng không có nghĩa là nó đứng riêng biệt.

Tiền tố là thành phần được thêm vào trước từ gốc. Tiền tố không phải là một từ
và cũng không có nghĩa khi nó đứng riêng biệt.
Trọng âm không bao giờ rơi vào tiền tố. Tiền tố không ảnh hưởng đến trọng âm
của từ.

a. Danh từ ghép
- Noun + Noun - > trọng âm rơi vào danh từ đầu

‘gateway /ˈɡeɪtweɪ/ cổng ra vào, cửa ngõ

Với động từ ghép, trọng âm rơi vào từ thứ hai

c. Tính từ ghép
- Noun + Adj -> trọng âm rơi vào danh từ

- Adj + Noun -> trọng âm rơi vào tính từ

- Noun + Vp2 -> trọng âm rơi vào Vp2

- Những từ có đuôi -ary trọng âm sẽ dịch chuyển bốn âm tính từ âm cuối
lên
