Geometry Problem
Geometry Problem
is a branch of mathematics that studies the sizes, shapes, positions angles and
dimensions of things.
Flat shapes like squares, circles, and triangles are a part of flat geometry and are
called 2D shapes. These shapes have only 2 dimensions, the length and the width.
Solid objects are also known as 3D objects having the third dimension of height or
depth.
Examples of 3D shapes in solid geometry
1.The length and breadth of a square are increased by 40% and 30% respectively.
the area of resulting rectangle exceeds the area of the square by
Let a m. be the length of each side of a square . Its area = a^2 sq.units.
Let the square have sides of 100 cm.
Area = 100
2.If the radius of a circle is decreased by 50%, find the percentage decrease in its
area.
Area=πr^2.
= 22 / 7 x 14 x 14 = 616
= 22 / 7 x 7 x 7 = 154
3.The length of a rectangle is increased by 60%.by what percent would the width
have to be decreased to maintain the same area
Area 1
Area of the rectangle = l x b
Let assume = 100 x 60 = 6000
Area 2 - Area 1
100 * 60 = 160 * X
6000 = 160X
X = 6000 / 160 = 37.5
Difference = 60 – 37.5 = 22.5
% = 22.5 / 60 x 100 = 37.5 %
Length=2b
Breadth=X
Length=2x
Area 2 – Area 1 = 75
(l – 5 ) (b + 5 ) – lb = 75
5X – 25 = 75
5X = 100
X = 20.
X means b = 20
Volume = l x b x h
=6x5x2
V1 = 60
19 % reduced = 60 x 19 / 100
V2 – 48.6
H=H
L = 6 * x / 100
W = 5 * x/100
60x^2 = 486000
x^2 = 486000 / 60
x^2 =8100
x = √ 8100
x = 90
w = 5 * x /100
= 5 x 90/100
W = 4.5
