The Sixth Sense of Detecting Natural

Calamities
If I could have an additional sense, apart from the already existing five senses, I would like to
have the ability to sense natural disasters like earthquakes or tsunamis beforehand. Natural
disasters are catastrophic and cause massive and long-lasting destruction to both, life and
property. These disasters displace and disrupt the lives of millions of people every year. And
now, due to global warming and rise in Earth’s temperature, these calamities are becoming
more and more inevitable. If had the ability to sense natural disasters ahead of time, I could
help to save so many lives. And the reason for it is that such an ability would not only help
people to be prepared for calamity, evacuation process would be aided and the population
could be moved to a safer location before the disaster strikes. This could help to reduce
anxiety, fear and trauma related to it and cut down losses, and at the same time increase
self-preparedness in people as well as the authorities. Relief camps could be setups in time
and with the help of nanotechnology could improve disaster relief process. So, if I could
have any ability, I would want something that would help me to aid people from escaping
natural disasters, and as my sixth sense, I would wish for the ‘sense of detecting natural
calamities’.
