Sommelier

What is a sommelier?

The sommelier is an expert in wine, although we

should not confuse it with the figure of the winemaker,
who is also an expert in wine but has other functions,
who is able to recognize the characteristics, defects
and virtues of this drink. Contrary to what you might
think, being a sommelier is not an easy job, as you
have to have highly developed and trained senses.

Our sommelier has a section dedicated to offering our

clients their recommendations.

The origin of the profession

The origin of sommeliers is in France, in the 14th

century, when the monarchs began to have tasters for
their wines in order to verify that the drink was not
poisoned, and that it lasted until the French Revolution.
Later, the figure of the real taster would evolve into the
profession we know today.

What is the function of the sommelier?

Due to the education, knowledge and experience they

acquire, many sommeliers work as wine critics. One of
their main jobs is to participate in wine tastings, create
lists of the best wines, compare them and recommend
which ones are the ones for accompaniments with any
type of food.
