Contact Hours: per week : L : S: 3 Course Code: AP-445
Contact Hours: per sem : L : 48 S: 0 IVth YEAR – 2021, Semester VII
Credit: 3 Studio Coordinator :Sanjay Mehra
Total Marks:100 (E=50 I=50) Studio Team: Sanjay Mehra

Objectives:
To Familiarise students with advancement in concrete construction for large span structures. to famliarise students with manufacture storage and transportantion of conctete. To
inform variuos equipments used in costruction . to familiarise students with construction management.

Pedagogy:
Coursework is divided into four modules: Module 1- Concrete as material its properties and its use in large span structures- types and forms of concrete structures. Module 2-
Manufacturing of concrete - on site and on site, precast concret e - pretensioning and post tensioning, transportation of concret blocks, storage and handling equipments. Module 3-
Equipments used - plant and machinary for material handling and erection on site, cranes, boomers, TBM concrete tunneling etc. Module 4- Construction management of site for
large span structures, site clearence, handling, planning of construction sequence, fixing and detailing . Following Buildings/ Structures can be used to demonstrate the learings -
Highrise Buildings in hybrid Construction, Overhead Metro Station Construction, Underground Metro station Construction, Stadium seating, Deep basement, metro tunneling, box
tunneling for underpass, composite structures, shells and dome construction in concrete, Exhibition Pavillions in concrete, Convention Centres, Cast in situ highrise in concrete

Expected Outcomes:
Students would understand the use of concrete in building construction. It shall help them understand the material and its variations, and how it can be used in various building
types.
