 INTRODUCTION
Saint Louis College Cebu has played a great
role in forming and molding the young learners
to prepare them for their future. With this,
learners who graduated from the institution
have acquired Virtues and Skills that helped
them excel in areas of their studies and in the
society.
 …INTRODUCTION
The school founded its charisma from the Missionary of
the CICM. It can’t be denied that the History played an
important role to support the institution. Saint Louis
College-Cebu, is a Catholic School run by the CICM
missionaries that provides not just knowledge but also
values to the young individuals. This mission is traced
way back on the18th Century, and up to present, the
mission has been passed through generations and to
different places all over the World.
 Learning Objectives
At the end of the module, the learners are
expected to:
1. get to know Fr. Theophile Verbist;
2. trace the history of CICM; and
3. understand the CICM and SLCC’s
mission-vision and Five Core Values.

Archdiocese of Malines-
Brussels
Through the inspiring work of the Holy
Childhood which took
care of
abandoned children in the
Far East and other parts of the world,
Father Verbist felt that he should do
something more for the
poor
and needy in China.
His Belgian mission in
China had its formation
house located in a chapel
in Scheut, in the
municipality of Anderlecht,
an old pilgrimage place.
The foundation was named
Congregatio Immaculati Cordis
Mariae (CICM) or the
Congregation of the Immaculate
Heart of Mary also known as
the Scheut Fathers or
Scheutists with Fr. Theophile
Verbist as the founder.
“Cor unum et anima
una (One heart, one
soul)” is the motto of
the Congregation.
 On February 23,
1868, Fr. Theophile
Verbist died of typhoid
fever at the age of 45
in Lao Hu Kow.
 “If anything marks
CICM, it is the call to
leave everything for
the sake of the
mission.”
