Lesson aims:

new topic.
 By the end of the lesson students will be able to know how to give an
order or provide a request.
 By the end of the lesson students will be able to form accurate oral and
written imperative sentences.
WARM UP:
At this stage I will begin the lesson with a game students know well, “Simon
Says”. While playing they will be revising general verbs. The expressions will be
in affirmative and negative. I will begin in the following way:
T: Let’s play a game! Simon Says! Do you know it?
Ss: (expected answer): Yes, teacher.
T: Ok, but this is different. This is Teacher says! Remember I have to say
“Teacher says…” For example:
T: (I will select a student) Teacher says stand up (doing emphasis and mimics)
Selected student: (expected answer): (stands up)
T: Now everyone, Teacher says don’t dance.
Ss: (expected answer): (stand in their sits)
T: Remember I have to say “Teacher says…”
T: Is it clear?
Ss: (expected answer): Yes, teacher.
T: Ok, Let’s play!!
PRESENTATION:
At this stage I will introduce the new topic. I will write some expressions I had
said on the previous stage and add others related with the vocabulary already
seen, while playing so as to analyze them. I will use the mother tongue if
necessary. I will proceed as follows:
T: Now, pay attention! Look! (I will write the expressions on the board)
T: Listen! Number one: Stand up! Number two: Don’t dance. (I will write other
structures)
T: All these sentences are imperative sentences. They are commands. We
use them to give orders or to make a request. We don’t use the pronoun and we
can make affirmative and negative sentences. (I will point the affirmatives and
negatives).
T: Now, let’s read all together! Listen and repeat after me.
T: Stand up!
Ss: (expected answer): Stand up!
….
T: So, remember! We use IMPERATIVE SENTENCES para dar ordenes o
solicitar cosas. Pueden ser de manera afirmativa o negativa y no tienen
pronombre.
I will read all the sentences and students will repeat in chorus. I will
repeat the use of this structure and if necessary I will use mother tongue.
I will give the students a copy with the grammar box in order to be glued
on their folders.
Imperative Sentences:
1°: Stand up! 5°: Don’t sing loudly.
2°: Please, be careful! 6°: Don’t drive too fast.
3°: Please, be quiet. 7°: Don’t text in class!
4°: Please, wait for me. 8°: Don’t dance in the office.

Grammar box:
IMPERATIVE SENTENCES.

Affirmative Negative

ORAL PRACTICE:
At this stage I will make students practice this structure by sticking on the board
images so as they say the sentence. I will do number one, then I will ask for a
volunteer and after that, I will continue randomly. I will proceed in the following
manner:
T: Let’s practice! Look at the images. We have to say the imperative sentence
according to what we see. When we see a cross (pointing to it) we have
negative imperative sentence. For example:
T: Number one, what is it?
Ss: (expected answer): A boy/ a book.
T: Right! So, the imperative will be “Please, open your book”. (doing
emphasis)
T: Is it clear?
Ss: (expected answer): Yes, teacher.
T: Very good! Let’s see…

Please, open your book. Don’t smoke.
