DANCE SPORT MECHANICS AND GUIDELINES

1. A team shall be composed of one (1) pair.


2. The maximum routine time limit is two (2) minutes and a pair shall dance the following
Latin Dances: CHA-CHA, RUMBA and JIVE. For the standard, a pair shall dance the
following dances: Slow waltz, Tango and Quick step.
3. The management shall provide the music.
4. A pair shall wear a dance sport costume provided that it will not be so daring (ex. Plunging
neckline, low back, revealing too much of the human body)
5. The special awards to be given are the following:

a. Best in Cha-Cha-Cha
b. Best in Rumba
c. Best in Jive
d. Best in Slow waltz
e. Best in Tango
f. Best in Quick step

6. The decision of the board of judges is final.

CRITERIA FOR JUDGING

TIMING, MUSICALITY AND EXPRESSION ----------25%

POSTURE, SHAPE AND POISE --------------------------20%

TOGETHERNESS, LINE HOLD BALANCE -----------20%

COMBO LATA MECHANICS

1. The group should be composed of maximum of ten (10) students including the
vocalist.
2. Each participating group will prepare instruments, like electric guitar/acoustic guitar,
bass guitar, keyboard and improvise Drum set (Combo Lata or beat box).
3. Each group will prepare two (2) songs, the first piece will be of any song choice and
the other should be the contest piece “Bisan Pa” song.
4. The band will be given 10 minutes to perform which includes all preparations needed.
5. Criteria for Judging

Musicality (Timing, Unity, Voice Quality) ---------50%


Creativity (Uniqueness of the sound produce) -----20%
Stage Presence ------------------------------------------20%
Audience Impact ----------------------------------------10%

HIP HOP DANCE COMPETITION

1. Only one (1) entry per team/unit is allowed.


2. A minimum of six (5) and maximum of ten (10) dancers are allowed to perform.
3. Each team will be given a minimum of 2 minutes and a maximum of 3 minutes to
perform.
4. The group must bring their own music. It should be submitted prior to the
presentation. Be sure there should be a back-up copy in case the submitted music fails
to play.
5. Judges decision is final and irrevocable.

Performance (Staging, Spacing Formations, Executions Showmanship,


Projection Stabilization and Variety of Hip hop routines,
Entertainment Value and Crowd Appeal) -------------------------40%
Choreography and Originality (Dance Arrangements & Concept,
Incorporating Unique and Original / Creative Moves)------------30%
Themes and Music (Musicality, Beat Techniques, Timing,
Synchronization, Moves Related to the Music) --------------------20%
