Barangay Social Amelioration Program Distribution

With the distribution of the second tranche of the Social Amelioration

Program (SAP) set to begin soon, the Department of the Interior and Local
Government (DILG) said 397 barangay and local government officials are now
facing criminal charges for alleged anomalies in the distribution of the first
tranche of the Social Amelioration Program before the various Prosecutor’s
Office of the Department of Justice. Approximately thousands of families in my
barangay will be the beneficiaries of this program. Several agencies were tasked
to implement SAP, with the DSWD at the head. The governments Social
ameliorations shall include support to 18 million Filipinos who will be most
affected by this COVID 19 pandemic. The target beneficiaries of SAP shall
receive cash assistance amounting to ₱5000- ₱8000 per month for two months but
it happens for once only in our Barangay although there are people receive twice
of their SAP but there are more people doesn’t receive their full SAP. Maybe it is
the Barangay officials’ fault or from the higher institution which is the DSWD.
We see as early as now the growing level of misinformation about the social
amelioration package. The vague, general and fragmented information being
provided by the government is causing distress among citizens and implementers
on the ground. There is a need for more similar citizens accountability efforts
that address the challenges of communication and information, accountability
gaps, and mechanism for redress for ordinary citizens in the governments SAP
and to conquer the fight for COVID 19. This SAP will be the foundation of the

people to trust the government but if these programs will be a mess, we should
talk and speak for our democracy. COVID 19 made a huge impact in our
economy, we can’t study in school we cannot leave our houses to get job and etc.
SAP distribution gave us hope and stress but it is the way of the government how
to treat their citizen correctly even though there is a corruption in this program
we can’t handle the official’s tradition, that tradition is corruption. Corruption is
part of the problems encountered by the government, as a normal citizen we
cannot erase it in a blink of an eye it takes a million year to beat corruption
because in every position in the government from large to smaller positions there
are corruption.
