It’s Your Move -Safe Client Handling

Sally is a 47-year-old woman with COPD. The Logo shows she

requires a Two-person Transfer with Belt. This past week, the evening
staff has been reporting that Sally has been weak and unpredictable in
her ability to transfer reliably. Day staff has reported no changes with
her transfer ability. She complains she is feeling weak and tired this
evening.

Upon assessment, you find:

Hand, grip, push, and pull are equal and strong.
She is able to raise her hips off of the bed.
She can roll to both sides of the bed, using the side rails for assistance.
Sally is able to get into a sitting position and maintain the sitting position for the full 15
seconds.
Sally can straighten both legs and hold each for three seconds.
There is difficulty managing the oxygen bottle during her transfer.

You obtain a second worker and a Transfer Belt prior to having Sally stand.
With assistance from a second worker to manage the oxygen bottle they are able to
get Sally into a standing position, but she is unable to bear her body weight for the
full 15 seconds
Sally is cooperative, but her physical ability is presently unreliable.
She has partial weight bearing abilities.
She is able to keep one arm outside of the harness, but moves her arms slowly.
